  1. yeah but this is a case of no film with a predominantly black cast EVER coming out in theatre!!and this movie is making money, its just lame! this is ridiculous censorship....mind you i don't always like 'black' movies in general but when one is good entertainment i have no problem saying so and giving it good word of mouth , people should have right to make up their mind and not have companies or media council like the CSA decide what they can or can't see in theatreanyway awfully glad i'm not concerned but bummed for those who are
  2. ok so maybe its just that the distributor prefers direct to dvd approach for black films in francei also read sony never programmed the film for french market, whyyyy?even if that's the case, how is it possible in this day and age for such a thing to be occurring continuously, there's a consequent black population in france and they don't have options to decide whether to see this film or not, and decide if they like it or its crappy?
  3. i'm having a convo with a friend of mine on fb just now and she forwarded this link to mehttp://globalvoiceso...-not-in-france/i cannot believe it, , sometimes i want to facepalm so bad when i think i was born in that countryi'm one of the lucky ones, i live on a french island that very particular in that we also speak english, use dollars, eat american in addition to french counterparts, and our theatre shows films in english on the dutch side of the island ,there's a small french theatre with one screen but hardly anyone goes there pfff, its more of a cultural center that serve as different outletsshe tells me she'll have to wait for the dvd to see the film, she lives in guadeloupe and they are alas 100% french, and that people is the same country who gave omar sy from "the intouchables" the cesar prize for best actor instead of jean dujardin, go figure and to think just across the chanel the brits have no qualms of catering to their different communitiesthis is such BS !! the majority of films there have an all white cast and i don't see anyone crying foul over it
  4. i gave it a B , it was nice seeing the gang back together, and boy between the story and the soundtrack ,it felt like going down memory lane, lot of nostalgia !jason biggs hasnt aged , chris klein and mena suvary cute couple , and boy i had a good laugh when stifler met finch's momtara reid reminded me of one of these housewives of x city tanned with age and plastic surgery , you can hardly remember they use to be fresh daisy girl next door type !and just seeing other familiar characters like jessica , the sherminator, milf john cho who is zulu on new star trek!it was comfort fun and entertainment if you know these guys and grew up with them and i love how the last scene is in fact the first scene of the series where they make that pact to lose their virginity
  5. helena is bellatrix , i totally bought she was cuckoo and evil all in one!!
  6. i kinda commented before reading the entire thread so yeah now that i know i agree that if nothing else he did have the choice to decide how to go once he knew the end was inevitable!AA liked your post because i've had 2 people in my life commit suicide, they weren't family but still the first was harder i was only 15 for yrs i tried making sense of it,we were not super close but part of the same group of friends who were always together in our neighbourhood as kidsthe 2nd one was a friend at university we were in the same english class and lived on the same floor at our dorm building so to hear he took his life when everything seemed to be going well for him [edited out] i still wish he'd have waited time does heal everything or at least make awful things not so awful and more bearable....scott will always be remembered though for his work !
  7. i vaguely knew who he was because i do pay attention to directors name when i watch a film and i did wonder if he was related to ridley scott!i've seen quite a few of his films actually, fav been "top gun" it had it all action /romance / thrill/ friendship /heartache and well i love seeing guys in their navy uniform and also "days of thunder" fun and entertaining all around! (i use to be a tom cruise fan girl a lifetime ago)among those i've also seen:crimson tide, man on fire, unstoppable, enemy of the state, domino(really good),beverly hills 2 , pelham 123.
  8. wow and RIP , i always have ambivalent feelings about people who commit suicide!all is never as it seems, what could have been so wrong ,so hopeless ,so bleak that enable him to do such a thing....
  9. coz nothing says lazy sunday more than watching the extended version of this grand trilogy! the credits just finished phew they are as long proportionally to the films lolgahh and once again i was pretty emotional from the moment frodo fights gollum for the ring inside mount doom to the bittersweet end, it just everyone saying goodbye/getting teary eyed as the realization its over for them and for us sinks init really hits me when aragorn says to the hobbits 'you bow to no one" cue music swell...
  10. who isnt impatient? i so want to go back to middle earth asapto quote old bilbo as he board a ship into the west "i think i'm quite ready for another adventure!!!"
  11. i swear the more i read people's opinion about THE TREE OF LIFE good or bad ,the good is really good and the bad is really bad! i fear watching this film , i'll get around eventually , i'm not in a rush to sacrifice the time required quite yet!
  12. good for him, set standard for himself , might not be the best way to go about it but at least he's not willing to sell out for life and be typecast!!!!edit: hey that was a great itw by JGL , he's a very well-spoken, well-read , knows-his-mind kind of guy! i like that and respect that in a young actor! a bit preppy but he is a product of his upbringing not every parents are able to foster a creative friendly environment for their kids, at least he's aware of that!
  13. also revolution! i always give jj abrams show a go, it has a terra nova vibe to it with no dinosaurs so that should mean it gets to see a 2nd season hopefully and what with alcatraz fizzling , he ought to have a recent show do good and last but not least nielsen viewers throw poor nbc a bone will ya!
  14. LOTR of course the scope of the film is just epic (complex world brought to life on screen ) best immersive experience never boring!STAR WARS , also pretty epic ! i've come to appreciate it even more in light of new trilogy now that the whole story is told of anakin arc from the good to the dark side of the force and his final redemption , also in parallel arc of a galaxy going from a republic to an empireas for the others, BATMAN i don't think i'll have a definitive opinion until i see all three back to back also , maybe in a few years like a good wine i'll be able to give it its rightful place as a prime display of a skilled director ability to lend gravitas/realism to a superhero film! TOY STORY is really sweet but i first saw the third and cried ,for years i had scorned these films thinking they're kids films whatever after that i just had to see the other two! i love the themes in them , i love all the toys and thanks to my nephews have watched them back to back a lot !i vaguely remember INDIANA JONES films i have not seen them in years but i must have loved it a lot because i do remember going crazy over having school material with pics of the film on them
  15. wasnt sydney pollack a director that acted a lot in his films? i recently rewatched "tootsie" and he's the writer and/or director and also has a supporting role as tootsie's agent
  16. i just saw a pic on my fb page which shows the joker and robin went to high school together, i just had a good laugh about it i had totally forgotten that heath ledger and joseph gordon-levitt were in that high school movie "ten things i hate about you" when they were scrawny hungry actors making their first splash
  17. loved it!!! it was super hilarious ,the first five minutes had me in stitches LMAOOOO i got tears in my eyes ,not a lot of substance script-wise but as far as a string of jokes weaving into each other ,pretty well done!,its a shame he's not trying harder to be a more dramatic actor after all he was really good in "hugo"...but yeah after all the digs at middle-eastern countries and their leaders ,the dig at the usa democratic dictatorship was funny too!
  18. there's always the inevitable reboot very soon! if poor spidey hardly got a few years before a reboot was in question why not harry potter, right? and you're right forget about little kids give the first two film a pg13 treatment instead of PG
  19. mostly in how overall it took voldermort SEVEN yrs to try and kill a little kid learning how to be a wizard, i found that a little bit unbelievable, yes harry had courage beyond his years but so many times just to not kill harry they'd come up with the "master is the only one who can kill him " when he has minions like crazy beatrix wanting nothing more than the pleasure of pleasing her masterbut i'm just being petty really even if you can say there was a lot of running around/hide and seek until the final climax ,the story arc is great as it is...which reminds me of when snapes accuses dumbledore of having kept harry alive only long enough to have to be killed anyway, that sucked!
  20. i haven't seen the old batman in a long time with keaton so i voted for val kilmer as bruce wayne and bale as batman!but i think they all did a good job as batman ,differences are more variant in his civilian counterpart bruce wayne
  21. i voted good but with too many questions but as i mentioned in my crowd report , i need to watch the film again ! maybe then i'll upgrade it to great or perfect but i also want to watch the two previous movies before concluding if this was the best conclusion to the trilogy
  22. CARIBBEAN CINEMASMEGAPLEX7 / 8.50pm 100%full(only 2 showings weekday the other at 7.20pm,oh and it only came out last weekend)i went to see it wednesday night and as it happens its ladies night so women only pay 5$ (use to be 4 before the summer) instead of 7.50$the movie left me pensive as always , i have to say one thing about nolan , his batman movies are by far the most mature and dark superhero films i've ever seen ,i'm always left with an uneasy feeling afterwards at how he depicts evil intentions and psyche deeply grounded in realism ,characters motivationsi need to watch this again clearly, that said i feel that DK was a better realized movie ,more tightly woven this one has very slight dips in quality level, i did not really care for the twist at the end regarding the villain even though i did not see it coming...and also i was very surprise at batman's appearance in this one guess i was expecting super-buff as usual but this c.bale reminded me of his character in the fighter slightly beefed upas for the experience itself, i have to admit i was a little on edge going to see it even if really the nerves were unfounded after all its a small cinema but so close to a tragic event its not easy to shake off the feeling that the unexpected could happen now that it actually has happen in a cinema ! but still audience was really good ,we missed the trailers but were able to find seats in the middle of the stadium like theatre(phew i hate been stuck all the way in front),2 ushers never left the room, they kept going up and down the stairs every 30mn or so then a security guy came in ,also went up and down the stairs then stop next to the row in front of me to talk to a guy who kept fishing out his blackberry every other minute to scroll(i swear i'm curse by blackberrys at the movies now)and might have thought he was acting fishy ,then about 40mn before the end the guy behind me kicked my seat really hard it startled me "he did say sorry" but wtf you know probably had his feet up on it and slipped and i hadnt realized! So as you see i wasnt over-exxagerating in my nervousness or to be more accurate the over-exxageration wasnt only displayed by me .ah-HA but to cap off the weird vibe of the evening as we left the theatre there's an escalator that go down toward a double door entrance one side of the door was locked so everyone was squeezing through the other side but not fast enough or not as fast as the escalator was bringing people down so at one point many people bumped into me then others bumped into them i tripped me and many others commented with a wth/wtf stupid why did they do that so yeah another reason i need to see this film again but next time i'll go in the afternoon if i can so as to miss the crowdsps1: imagine my surprise during the football stadium scene, i actually sat up in my seat and pointed at the screen and did O with my mouth as i recognize the signature gif of one of our members here, i think i even liked it when they first use it! the thing is i never watched a trailer for this latest batman so i had no clue i thought this was a random gif he found somewhere online which wwas pretty cool, i vaguely followed casting but that was about that...also not sure how i feel about catwoman but i guess it has to do with preferring the other female lead for the better part of the movie until ...all in all its a very good movie i give it a solid 8/10
