The amount of hot garbage Sandler puts out is unparalleled.  It's sad that you can see him headlining something and it's going to suck, even if it seems like it could be really fun like this one.  He needs to be stopped.

I think you guys are really exaggerating when it comes to Sandler.  He has had three really bad films imo, in the last few years.  JJ, TMB and GU2.  So he's slumping no doubt.  But before that he was putting out well liked films.  You might not have liked them but the general public did.  So yes, his name isn't marquee right now but he can get it back.

Yeah, though it's not anywhere near as bad as last July, what the heck is happening to July? It used to be THE biggest month.

Last July suffered because the big tentpole i.e. Furious 7 moved to Easter of the next year. This July is suffering because the biggest tentpole i.e. Batman v Superman moved to Easter of next year.

The tentpole which was supposed to anchor the month moved out and was replaced by nothing causing July's performance as a whole to suffer.

There hasn't been a big July movie since TDKR.

2013 was a well-rounded July. 2016 could shape up to be like that - though there doesn't look to be a runaway hit on even the level of DM2, if the stuff like Star Trek 3 and Ghostbusters and so on do well, it could still end up a big total.

We may be in for more "balanced" summers like 2002 or 2009 from here on out, especially with the new trend of putting higher-profile releases into early August caused by GOTG/TMNT last year.

What an atrocious year for Sony... and I don't think Pixels will change that.  Fortunately, they will have Transylvania 2 and Spectre this fall

Kind of remind me 1998 for Universal...  2015 is a totally different story for them  :)

And July 2016 will have both Finding Dory (>150m) and ID2 (200m) and not likes like TED2

I've been saying this from the beginning: if this starred James Franco and Seth Rogen in the place of Adam Sandler and Kevin James respectively with no other changes, it'd be 40% higher on RT and make about 100M more DOM. Maybe more in both areas since Rogen would probably tinker with the script a bit so it'd be more fun and not stupid.

Seeing it Friday with Minions at the drive-in regardless.

IMO, the only way he gets his marquee back is by pairing up with people who can challenge him on a comedic level. But the problem is, and I brought it up before, that he had the perfect opportunity and he let it slip by.

What if this had been another Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly venture?

Just imagine how much more well liked they would be if they didn't have Sandler in them.  The dude has been mailing it in for a while now.  When a guy starts picking films based on places he wants to go on vacation, you know he's probably content just churning stuff out for a quick buck... and it shows.

Did any one actually expect a good review of an Adam Sandler movie. It’s not a great film… but not nearly as bad as the high drama.

My college-attending 19-year-old nephew had a great time. My 5.5-year-old liked it when there was fighting. I wished Pixels tried harder.
