Weekend Numbers

Recommended Posts

The movie did good at the BO, no doubt. But quality-wise I thought it sucked big time.

I think you should take a look at the movies much worse than MoS:

SM3, TASM, FF, FF:ROSS, GHOST RIDER1/2, XMEN3, WOLVIE ORIGIN, and yes, the second half of IM2/3

TW may be disappointing DOM but it is scoring 2nd best OS opening of year-to-date, only behind IM3.

I think it's going to do great in Japan cause they really did a great job showing the culture and there is even a lot of japanese speaking in it.  I loved that about the movie. Also I don't agree that it's disappointing in the U.S.  This was probably the darkest comic book movie of the summer.

TASM, IM3 and even IM2 are masterpieces next to MoS.

Yea, maybe in your world.  But all three of those films pale in comparrson to MOS.  IM2? Are you kidding me?

It's the equivalent of arguing whose shit smells better

IMO MoS is good not great.  IMO IM2 and IM3 are almost as bad as one another and ASM is shit.

IM2 at least is serviceable and get the characters right. And by right I don't mean faithful to the comics, MoS doesn't get the characters right through the own mythology it creates. Jor-El wants his son to live and is against what the Krypton society has become, and yet he injects in Kal-El the codex. Pa Kent wants his son to grow up and do great things, and yet says to him that he shouldn't use his powers to do good, performing the first suicide by tornado recorded in film's history. And I haven't even talk about the thirty minutes destruction porn that follows.

SM3 and MoS are around the same ballpark I'll give you that since both are a hell of a mess and share the title  for 'bad films with two of the best trailers ever', but TASM is a hell of a better reboot than MoS could at least long to be: it has heart, character development and even with all its flaws, it's still a better received film and reboot than MoS. The Rotten Tomatoes scores AND the box office are the factual proof of what I'm saying.

IMO IM2 is borderline bad, while MoS is bad but there were hopes to a better film in the sequel until Batman was announced to have a vs. film with him. IM3 is the best of the Iron Man series and ASM albeit it's flawed, it's a great reboot and the best Spider-Man I've seen in the big screen.

I just think IM is a mess after part 1.  2 is just silly and 3 is all over the place.  Fire breathing dragon people, 17 different suits that can fly at will with just Tony's brain commanding them, a villain that is a stand up comedian and so on.  There are parts of me that think IM3 is worse than two.  And I know your love for ASM, you know my dislike of it.

MOS had too much action at the end and it got to the point where it affected the film but it's still a much better film than those three imo,

I find it to be amazing for Conjuring and there are going to be some very good holds this weekend.  GU2 is going to be around a 37% drop.
