I know this speaks more to the lack of black filmmakers, but it does bother me how it's so assumed he'll get the call to make Black Panther (and probably not any other superhero movie).

He could end up doing both Fast 8 and Black Panther. The former opens in April 2017 and the latter July 2018.

Gray I could live with. Heck he's done a car movie. He has some street sensibility I suppose you could call it.

The other guy, well, don't know him...

But he's not Louis Leterrier, so he wins. In case I wasn't clear, I don't want Louis Letterier.

Louis Letterier is the guy you want when you have a movie that needs to be completed within a deadline, on budget and with minimal pushback. He will continue getting jobs making "safe" studio movies because of that.

Yeah. Pretty much.

I mean he's not terrible...even though some of his movies are (ah hem Transporter 2)...but he's a creative void.

I am willing to bet two Likes with someone that it is Leterrier who gets the job.

You might be right, but I'll take that bet. I don't want to see that happen.

He has directed a car stunt more absurd, stupid, and ridiculous than anything in the Fast series. Though I'm not saying that as a compliment.

Apparently, it's F. Gary Gray, not officially confirmed yet.

I can dig it.

He is the director of one of the best comedies of all time. And a car movie that, well, ok it's not very good but it did well and the car shit is fun.

To be fair to Louie, both TIH and Titans were affected by studio execs a lot then he moved to Sony and Rothman happened... Quite unlucky. And to be honest with these F&F movies directors make literally no difference.
