Ezen Baklattan
The fact that American Hustle was nominated here over The Wolf of Wall Street is an absolute joke.

Blankments
The fact that American Hustle was nominated here over The Wolf of Wall Street is an absolute joke. Amen, one of Hustle's biggest flaws was its editing
ladyevenstar22
I concur on AH it was like watching an erratic heart beat on a monitor you'd be going back and forth between eyes drooping to jerks of attention ooh the acting isn't so bad so why am I bored silly and go slowly back to drooping etc... Whereas wolf felt like the cool party everyone is invited to and even though its a wild ride you wouldn't miss it for nothing if only to say years later yeah I partied hard that night and promptly became an upstanding citizen after lol
Jake Gittes
Captain Phillips actually won Best Edited Feature - Drama from the ACE, and the Academy agrees with those guys quite often (this century, only three films won the ACE prize and lost the Oscar). So it might upset Gravity at the Oscars too. I wouldn't really mind it, as it's the only Oscar that Phillips stands a chance to win anyway. So it might upset Gravity at the Oscars too. I wouldn't really mind it, as it's the only Oscar that Phillips stands a chance to win anyway. I'd rather it win Adapted Screenplay than win Editing. I personally wasn't a fan of the editing or direction in Captain Phillips.
ladyevenstar22
There's def a sense its any movie chance to take the BP prize even if some films are more talked about than others
The Dark Alfred
Gravity will sweep the tech cats IMO. CP is not loved by the AMPAS.
Jessie
Someone explain why Gravity will deserve this award when what made it so great was how elongated it's shots were, therefore their wasn't as much to edit. The opening scene must have been about 20 minutes long without editing at all lol, but no this deserves that Oscar too because its Gravity and its badass
Plain Old Tele
Numbers of cuts doesn't equal quality of editing.
Jessie
Numbers of cuts doesn't equal quality of editing. I know that but I think something like Wolf of Wall Street or American Hustle would have been a lot harder to edit.I'm watching Gravity in 3d right now, it does have its moments. Plain Old Tele
I know that but I think something like Wolf of Wall Street or American Hustle would have been a lot harder to edit. That's not necessarily the case, although admittedly it's hard to objectively determine "best" editing unless you're looking at what they had to work with.
Founder / Operator Shawn Robbins Posted February 13, 2014 Founder / Operator Share Posted February 13, 2014 I'm leaning toward Hustle winning this, but wouldn't rule out Gravity or 12 Years.
RobinHood26
Gravity or Hustle. I can see it going ether way. I have a feeling the Oscars this year are going to be interesting.
