efialtes76
DM2 wont make much in China. It's just an animation not called Panda or Scrat. or Croods!
Omni
In other words, it looks like no animated film above mediocre-average can succeed in China. Meaning DM2 will probably triple Frozen there.

Elessar
Unlike last week, this is one that could have done better. $39m for the whole week compared to $48m that AUJ made. Edited January 12, 2014 by Elessar
John Marston
700m overseas still seems doable. 1 billion is dead and buried though
Elessar
Doable but difficult. It's $43m behind AUJ and i fear the gap is only going to get bigger. It's probably going to have to outgross AUJ by over $20m in Japan and China combined in order to hit $700m.

Elessar
I know. I took that into account. Edited January 12, 2014 by Elessar
Elessar
Let's take AUJ: it made $48m that week for a total of $609m. It ended its run in those market with $664m, so it added another $55m, that's 1.15x the $48m. If we apply that to DOS: 1.15 x 39m = 45m, so that gives us $610m. It needs to make $90m from China and Japan.

Fake
Hobbit will get around 3x multiplier from this weekend and finish with 610m from current markets. China and Japan should add another 70-80m. So it will finish with 950-960m WW. That's around what DM2 and Frozen are looking to finish with as well. It is going to be a really close fight for #2 of the year.
