I concur, look at this weekend http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2013&wknd=21&p=.htm

IM3 and STID only dropped 46% against newcomers that amassed 170m. Marvel films always seem to have decent holds regardless of competition

That was Memorial Day weekend.  A 4 day  or any long holiday weekend always softens drops no matter what. Unless the films loses like half of its theaters or something

I think one of the problems will be loss of IMAX screens -- though it'll still have the benefit of 3D (that super-low 3D share means it won't be that much of a boost, though).

So, the same as Skyfall's Thursday. However, the fact that there's no perfect comparison film for this since this is the first movie of its specific type to open during this time of year, I really have no clue how it's going to perform. Since it's supposed to skew more family, I would normally see a bigger increase on Friday than Skyfall's. But, honestly, it would not completely shock me to see a smaller one either. And that nearly 2/3 number for both Male and Over 25 doesn't help matters(It should change after OW and it's only from 5 theaters but still...).

Disney officially breaks all time global box office record. 3.79 billion, with Frozen and Saving Mr Banks still in the wings. And probably another 300 million from Thor incoming. Crazy.

I mean, it's a harsher drop than Skyfall but this was never gonna have Skyfall legs. And that's literally the only film we can compare it to. So it's okay I guess

Not only is it not going to have Skyfall legs, but being a Marvel movie, it should also have weaker weekdays but slightly better weekends.

Let's see if it balances it out with a softer Wednesday drop

Not sure why you'd expect Wednesday to balance anything out.

It makes more sense for things to balance out on Saturday.
