blackspider
Ray Subers @raysubers 26s Official #CatchingFire opening: $158,074,286 Lionsgate once again overestimates the THG films on their OW. The first one dropped 3m from estimates in its OW and consistently always dipped below esimates once actuals came in. Sunday is not kind to the THG films, that much is clear. LexJoker
TDKR will keep the 2D record till the 3D wave wears off. Lionsgate will be foolish not to convert MJ1 and MJ2 to 3D, 1 Million admissions more but $17M less compared to IM3!!!

ChD
Lionsgate really hoped for that 2D record. In the end, reality bit them back. Not even second place. They scored 3rd place... again.

Someone's bitter at CF's success. Weren't you the one that said you'd be really happy if it did mid-130s? Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, the joke's on you now. redfirebird2008
TDKR will keep the 2D record till the 3D wave wears off. Lionsgate will be foolish not to convert MJ1 and MJ2 to 3D, 1 Million admissions more but $17M less compared to IM3!!! Actually admissions are very close between the two. ERC was going off the $161m estimate when they posted their admissions estimates. IM3 without 3D would be right around $158m.

iceroll
The drop wasn't even that bad, especially when we were expecting 155m. And a 1.9% difference is pretty decent for an opener, better than Disney's been doing with Thor and WB with gravity even after they opened. Yes it was gutsy for Lionsgate to go for 2D record but they weren't that far. If the NFL games, American Music Awards and The Walking Dead weren't so strong PLUS a strong early snowstorm then it might have actually the record. TLK
LGF shares are down 10% . To be honest, they were due for a drop but this opening made the drop a bit more brutal than it shuld've been.
