Idk how you could watch the same movie over and over but thats just me lol

It's really more just background noise for me on Christmas Day

I got Argo on Blu-Ray and Casino Royale on DVD for Christmas movie gifts. I'm pretty happy with them but it does get me wondering why I make a list if my family blatantly ignores it

Wolf of Wall Street is the Goodfellas of Wall Street. Its unquestionably the best film of the year and DiCaprio gives one of the best performances Ive ever seen. This is not an all hype no substance film. This is the real deal. I am utterly floored with it. Ill be seeing it again.

Got nothing for Christmas.

I don't consider Christmas as a season of giving however. Just an excuse to buy a ton of shit for myself. Hence the $1300 or so of credit card expenses I had to payoff today :(

Wow, the theater was nuts today. Especially for Hustle, Wolf, Anchorman, Banks, and, kinda shockingly, Walter Mitty, which sold out a few showings. Gonna be a massive day.

On another note, I really enjoyed American Hustle, despite some lukewarm reviews on here. Certainly not gonna be my favorite of the year (or even in my top 8, probably) but its worth seeing for Bale alone. No idea why he hasn't gotten any real Oscar attention, even in a stacked year.

One of the people I saw American Hustle with wanted to strangle Lawrence's character for half the movie. It's a classic scenery-chewing overdramatic woman kind of role and Lawrence doesn't add much to it. It was a role that needed some real blue-collar East Coast life and breath to it and she provided none.

Bale and Adams were the all-stars of the movie easily. Renner was solid and likeable. Cooper was very good but his antics sometimes were a bit too over-the-top (though his gif-able scene with Louis CK was not one of those times. it was awesome).

The opening to the movie feels straight out of Goodfellas or Casino. DOR definitely went for the early 90s Marty vibe for the movie and most of the time it works like a charm.

I thought Lawrence was very good and charismatic, but ScarJo's performance in Don Jon's absolutely blew me away by comparison (though they're only slighty compararable. Cooper was great too but he didn't own the screen when Bale was in the same scene with him, which hurts a little. Lawrence always held her own. Hard to take your eyes off her, which is the best part of her performance.
