Superbowl Weekend Numbers (RTH updated Sun#s pg 14)

Recommended Posts

A 20-25% increase in its 10th weekend is beyond incredible. Protects its legs from TLM next weekend too.

Yeah, even if it gets 10m this weekend and falls 40% next weekend(11th weekend) to 6m, that 6m will be only a 33% drop from the 9th weekend. So even a 35% drop across 2 weekends is great.

3M would be incredible for Frozen. With that number 13M for weekend with a strong shot at number 1 for the weekend as it'll easily have better Sunday hold over RA. Absolutely incredible for a movie to have 13M 10th weekend especially in the frontloaded movie business we're in. Legs have been out of this world.  :bravo:

Why do you say that? RA is sitting at 17% on Rotten Tomatoes for goodness sake.

Because being #1 depends on competition, not only how good or bad the movie is doing, and certainly not on the quality.

Would RA ever have been #1 if it opened in CF's 2nd week?

I actually would have been thrilled if all the revisionist history and railroad angle was dropped and instead we got full-on crazy western fantasy with an amped up Cavendish.

Knowing Verbinski that might've been what he wanted to do, but when news broke about the werewolves the internet went on a hatestorm, so perhaps we would've gotten that were it not for the media reaction.

Nobody is going to remember that Ride Along was #1 more times than Frozen. Nobody will even remember the movie in a few months or how much it made. Everyone will remember Frozen.

Titanic of course.  Mrs. Doubtfire was #2 in its 9th and then jumped to #1 in its 10th.

Aladdin did it too. It's amazing Frozen has been having run very similar to that Aladdin had 21 years ago. I think that's whats astounding about Frozen, it's turn back the clock to the early 90's.  :D
