Superbowl Weekend Numbers (RTH updated Sun#s pg 14)

Recommended Posts

It would be hilarious if Frozen somehow managed to be first place this weekend.

i guess thats the long shot... if TAW underperforms and the super bowl hits LS and especially RA really really hard then that might happen ;)

Friday Box Office: Early #1 still 'Ride Along' $4.2M/12.6M, #2 'Awk Moment' $4M/10M, #3 'Frozen' Sing $3M/10.8M, #4 'Labor Day' $2.5M/6.7M

If it's earning $3 million on Friday, then it should be in line for a weekend above $12 million. The IMs have remained above 4 for a while.

Its way too early, but if Frozen his 3M on Friday then I'd expect a little over 13M for Frozen's weekend.  Tangled pulled a 4.66 IM on Superbowl weekend a week later in its run.  Frozen's lagged behind Tangled's IMs for the last couple weeks (96% of Tangled's IMs).  95% would mean 4.42 which takes 3M to 13.3M.

Frozen lost 3 theaters from last weekend. :P

Yeah, it hasn't hit the expansion phase, as that's usually considered. This is a, uh, re-infusion, I guess.

Isn't the late run expansion usually when a film passes to second run theaters?

With the Super Bowl on Sunday, though, who's going to see anything? All films are gonna get hit hard.

Family films often see softer decreases on Super Bowl Sundays than other films (around 50-55% compared to 60-75% for everything else) and the Saturday before sees marginally better business than normal.

3.0M Friday

7.2M Saturday (+140%)

3.2M Sunday (-55%)

13.4M Weekend

Expansion might mute Saturday increase a bit, but 13M should be a strong possibility.  What we have to watch for is if Friday can actually hit 3M (+362%).  Sounds too high IMO.
