The name was not an issue,CA2 made more in Russia than France and Germany.

 

Russia is traditionally a bigger market for action and fantasy movies.  TDW did $35m+ in RUS but $20m in Germany and $22m in FRA.  TWS did $15m in RUS.  It made more in France - about $18m and Germany did $12.5m. Both were also huge increases over the first but but still lower openings and totals than TDW though it had better legs. 

 

When Paramount was distributing the first movie they gave local distributors the choice of whether to drop the CA from CA:TFA .  Russia was one of the countries that did so. SK was another where it opened comparatively poorly but became the 3rd biggest market for TWS (helped by the Avengers but also Snowpiercer)

I dont see 700 WW happening. It would need around TWS OS aka 450 to get there.

650 WW is the high end for me. It'd cool if it outgrosses Thor 2 WW.

So far this has opened lower than TDW in almost all markets except Russia. The big local films in SKorea are really hurting its gross there. Over in the China thread it's said that the current date of release for this is Oct 3rd, a less favorable date than the original Sept 5th. I see this ending around maybe 400m OS, and with it possibly reaching 300m in the U.S, 700m could be reached.

Disney made it to $2B outside North America. Could it reach $3B like last year? If GotG yields another $300M, Maleficent another $20M and $30M from Planes 2, It will need $650M from Big Hero 6 and Into the Woods. As crazy as Frozen's run was, Big Hero 6 cannot yield that number during 2014 because it will be released in most countries during late December or early 2015. Even fewer markets will see Into the Woods before New Year so I think Disney won't make it to $3B. However, in 2015, maybe even $4B is possible!!!

This weekend should be around 45m as new openers will contribute 10-15m. Cume will be 140m+.

It is going to open above Man of Steel, TASM2, X-Men DoFP and CA2 here. Kinda crazy.
