Two months until Avatar 2. They really need to start marketing this to the general public and ofcourse social media.

First and foremost unleash a brand spankin new epic trailer followed by posters.

Common disney and 20th. Wake up.

Let's take a look at the two biggest movies that will close out 2022.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever - release date Nov 11

Jul 23: Official teaser trailer is released 2 min 11 sec

Oct 3: Official trailer is released 2 min 10 sec

Oct 11: character posters released

Avatar The Way of Water - release date Dec 14-16

May 9: Official teaser released 1 min 37 sec

Sept 23-Oct 13: Avatar is re-released generates $74.7 million - includes (3) different post credit scenes

+ LEGO/McFarlane Toys/Graphic Novels already announced

I think the Avatar hype train will start to ramp up big time the second BPWF is released, that's where Disney/20th Century will focus.

Disney also has to release the first teaser trailer for Ant Man 3 soon since that's just 4 months away. My guess is both that and Avatar 2 official trailer release by the first week of November.

That comparison with bp2 marketing shows the issue.

Avatar had its teaser 7 months before the premiere. Bp2 had it 5 months in advance.

If indeed avatar trailer is going to come just a little over a month before the premiere, then that means the period between the teaser and the trailer for avatar is going to be 6 months, while for bp2 it is 4 months. That's a 50 percent difference.

On top of that, bp2 teaser is structured more like a proper trailer. It's longer, it shows off many different locations, it shows off action.

Avatar 2 teaser is much more teaser-y. Shorter, light on action.

Bottom line, avatar 2 marketing should have included another trailer to come sometime in late August. Action heavy, out of the world visuals, something to intice the people who haven't seen avatar 1. Because teaser was for old avatar 1 audience. But the new audience should also get something in advance. Before this last trailer thats  obviously going to come with bp2.

My biggest problem with Avatar 2's teaser is the teaser fall short to showcase just how great the VFX are, especially you are the one of them who got to see the mid-credit teaser clip from Avatar2.

was the content shown in the teaser 100% done?

I don't think so, but my point is, the teaser clip they show during Avatar re-release contain a whole lot of "Wow" factor that stunned audience than the first teaser. Those clip, especially the one with bunch of kids swimming with the marine life underwater should be the one that first introduced to public. But again, very likely the scene was not ready during that time.

There's definitely a difference of intent between a teaser and a clip. The teaser was meant more than anything to remind people that the film is coming and build anticipation, but the clips with the rerelease were pretty much preaching to those already engaged and pushing anticipation in a different way. It's hard to get people that aren't already interested to engage with an out of context clip in any meaningful way.

agreed, also I think the full scenes can only been shown in theatre or they'll be undersold massively
