I have faith too.  Spielberg is at worst, a still very interesting filmmaker.  He has the clout to do unique things in the big budget space.

Though one thing...he cannot, cannot light Indy 5 the way he usually does.  Please don't make that movie look like that.  It's not right for Indy.  Indy isn't blue.

I imagine with Disney and no George Lucas, I guess Spielberg won't be able to cruise along like he did with KOTS.

I showed Tele Jr. the trailer and he got really excited about it. He wanted to watch it over and over.

So I bought the iBook and read him the first chapter before bed. Huzzah!

The BFG is a great book but I think Matilda and The Twits are my favourite Dahl stories. Revolting Rhymes is a good 'un but maybe aimed at slightly older kids.

It's a Dreamworks production distributed by Disney. Like The Help and War Horse.

Their partnership will end with this film.

It's very possible Disney is dumping it because of that.

Seems pretty obvious that they are dumping it.

Disney ain't dumping a live-action Spielberg movie. C'mon now.

Two weeks after their own Dory which should make 30-40M on that weekend plus one week before Pets which is getting major hype? Yup, not a dump job at all, no sir.

Anyway, if Disney moved this out of fear of Pets it wouldn't look any better.

But any movie that screens six weeks early at Cannes is not a dump

Grace of Monaco screened at Cannes. And we all know how that turned out.

Still looks better than Sing and Ice Age

Sing is coming out in Christmas, right?

Ice Age is gonna flop as well but should still pull a stupid huge WW number.

And so did Inside Out and Up.

I need to explain something: while I think it looks bad I don't think it will be bad. I do think it will flop, tho. And I also think it will be a dump job.

Fuck Pets. It should be worried about this, not the other way around.

The fact Disney have kept this in the plum July 4th weekend slot shows a lot of confidence in the film. It would be a dump if Disney moved it to October. Pets looks like a typical Illumination film and they've yet to prove themselves outside of DM and Dr Seuss.
