The BFG is a great book but I think Matilda and The Twits are my favourite Dahl stories. Revolting Rhymes is a good 'un but maybe aimed at slightly older kids.

How can you say it's being dumped when they just released a trailer for it and it's holding the same release date it had when it was first announced? Not to mention it's premiering at Cannes.

Two weeks after their own Dory which should make 30-40M on that weekend plus one week before Pets which is getting major hype? Yup, not a dump job at all, no sir.

Anyway, if Disney moved this out of fear of Pets it wouldn't look any better.

 

But any movie that screens six weeks early at Cannes is not a dump

The fact Disney have kept this in the plum July 4th weekend slot shows a lot of confidence in the film. It would be a dump if Disney moved it to October. Pets looks like a typical Illumination film and they've yet to prove themselves outside of DM and Dr Seuss.

Agreed. If WETA, which is working on this movie along with others, can't do it, then no one can....maybe in 10 years they will figure out

I think Spielberg is trying to capture the look of the giants and the BFG from the book but also merge the features of the actual actors much like what he did with Tintin which was create people with Herge attributes.
