Not doomed but ASM2 needed China to match the O/S #s of ASM1.  Without that $47m+ increase in China it's O/S #s would have been down from ASM1 ($495,900,000).

Great for Maleficent.$17m is an ok number for a $40m film. But maybe not a summer one. Comparisons to Ted are unfair though. Ted had a clear story and gimmick.
