Weekend #'s FIOS: 48.2, EOT: 29.1

Recommended Posts

Really?? Are you serious? Do you really want a list of films that opened higher than DOFP, TASM 2 and Godzilla but still had smaller drops. Why are you so stubbornly insistent?

Avengers, Iron Man 3, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Iron Man 2, Shrek the Third, Alice in Wonderland, Spider-Man, Toy Story 3, Star Wars: Episode 3, Shrek 2

All opened to more than $100M and fell less than 60% on their second weekend (some of them actually fell less than 50%).

THIS is my point. Some movies are more impressive, some are less impressive and some are disappointing. TASM 2, Godzilla and DOFP disappointed on their second weekends but Maleficent's hold was impressive, more or less. I can't be bothered to argue with you anymore. I don't care if you disagree.

Well i have to say i am disapointed in the weekend numbers for both of our big openers. i was really anticapating both of them.(Hopefully i will manage to see them soon.)

How is 48 mil disappointing for tfios. It was tracking to make 30 mil and made 48 mil. That's good.

As usual, a couple of people went loonie with their predictions. There were several 60+ and even a few 70+ predictions thrown out there! especially after those early Friday numbers.

Because Stannis is the one true king

It is not a question of wanting. The throne is mine, as Robert's heir. That is law. After me, it must pass to my daughter, unless Selyse should finally give me a son. I am king. Wants do not enter into it. I have a duty to my daughter. To the realm. Even to Robert. He loved me but little, I know, yet he was my brother. The Lannister woman gave him horns and made a motley fool of him. She may have murdered him as well, as she murdered Jon Arryn and Ned Stark. For such crimes there must be justice. Starting with Cersei and her abominations. But only starting. I mean to scour that court clean. As Robert should have done after the Trident.

Isn't he just the best.

The same damn argument goes on every weekend.

There are two kinds of expectations. Pre-release expectations (as of late Thursday) and expectations based on Friday estimate. Based on the prior, this film is doing terrfic, having earned 4 times its budget by its first Sunday. But based on the latter, having a Friday share that is 54% of the opening weekend means that the film will have huge drops from now on. Overall, I still think this is a win for Fox because no matter how hard it falls, it will earn a profit.
