well I guess the apocalypse is here. I did not like transformers at all. In fact I came close to hating it. Everything that I feared about the movie came true. The new story and the new characters simply don't match up to the old story and the old characters. So eventually when you get to a bunch of robots fighting each other it doesn't mean anything because you really don't care about who they are protecting and why they are fighting. So this movie is a big failure in my opinion......not good at all

 

TDKR now a good movie. Baumer hates Transformers: Age of Extinction.

I'm seeing $32m. For a Friday opener, that is terrible. At least TF3's huge rebound over the weekend made sense because it switched from Friday to Wednesday very close to release and a lot of people were saying that was the reason. 

 

But this...nah. This is just terrible. And honestly...beautiful.

That's interesting, because in theory the single dad trying to raise his daughter and save the world should be a very appealing set of characters and subplot -- look at ARMAGEDDON.

The difference is that

Ben Affleck didn't carry around a copy of Texas' Romeo and Juliet law in his wallet that he could conveniently show to Bruce Willis.

 

Yes, that's a scene in Age of Extinction. And it might be the most confounding scene in the whole movie.

I'd actually watch that. Can you imagine a violent, R-rated, Bay-directed satire about those people? 

But he probably would not make it rated R.  He'd go with a PG -13 to appeal to his fan base, so he would just end using the word "b*tch" about 100 times in the movie.  Lots of flexing biceps would be in the film, too. [mod edit]
