Weekend numbers thread:TMNT: 28.4 GOTG: 24.7 LBC. 17.7 Ex3: 16.2

Considering Paramount's/Michael Bay track record of fudging numbers, how do we know the TMNT numbers aren't being fudged? Wasn't WB doing the same thing with The Lego movie to keep it ahead of Captain America 2 for so long?

Is there really any point in "fudging" the numbers when the movie has been out for more than a week. Plus, if they were to do that, I doubt they would aim for a non-milestone like $28M.

Well, like I said, The Lego movie was doing that just so it can claim number one movie of the domestic BO as long as it could. I think Paramount is fudging TMNT numbers, but, it don't matter, GOTG is still looking to reign supreme of the summer BO period!

I was just about to say, another 60%+ drop? It's not a flop since I can't imagine the budget was too high, but man is it one of the biggest disappointments of the summer.

They should of changed the title. Get on Up sounds like a porn movie.

The LEGO Movie was still playing at many theaters because it was on all of the summer kids movies schedules, so movie theaters probably felt good about holding onto it.

It opened well almost everywhere, on par with the other SH movies, and is holding better than most. I think it's up to China to make or break the possibility.

China:

American Hustler = under $3m

Ender's Game = $22.7m

Frozen = $48.2m

Robocop ~ $50m

Need for Speed = $66.2m

the last Hobbit = $74.4m

Godzilla $77.6m

ASM 2 = $94.4m

DotFP = $116.4m

Transformers = over $300m

=> why I mentioned 'how they like it and what release date a movie gets'

I read e.g. at the international board here ~ $50m to $70m bcs of the bad release date, if GotG is liked

Watching a movie with the ensemble cast just for ONE actor? I'll never understand this way of thinking. If the movie's good, does it matter if your favourite actor is in it a lot or not?

Well, if most of the ensemble cast tends to suck, then yes it matters. Let's face it, most of these guys are in the movie to be parodies of themselves and the movies themselves are sub-par aside from a major action set piece at the beginning and end. Everything else in between is freakin terrible. The only guys who can truly carry the action (especially fight scenes) are Li and Statham and it doesn't help when their fight scenes are filmed clumsily and on top of that hacked to pieces by some incompetent editor. The rest of the cast (Lundgren, Crews, Couture, etc) are useless without toting a big gun around.

Technically, the turtles aren't superheroes, are they?

They wear masks, they fight crime and they originated in a comic book. Sounds like a super hero to me.

They fit the term better than GOTG actually.
