IMHO one of the best storytelling on any form of screen (TV or movie). On my top 10 list of best/favorite TV series of all time

I love TV series, that tell stories over many episodes / seasons/series

Agreed.

The baddies, the shadows or what they were called, with their screeching ships, the mystery surrounding them... such cool concept.

Straczynski took a lot of inspiration from Tolkien.

I am mostly impressed about the REAL character development.

Way too often TV-characters characters either freeze in time or - if they develop - they make strange jump-like changes, too often not even logical ones.

Especially G'Kar's development is IMHO one of - or even THE - most changing characters in a TV series - in a well balanced way.

Molari too has quiet a lot of changes, but not to the same amount. Not bcs auf a weakness of the script, but bcs of the characters inability to overcome certain old POVs. And as such he shows too a very well rounded / believable character development....

Their relationship was surely a strong point of the show. G'Kar and Molari, the archenemies, yet they developed some kind of mutual respect for each other.

Much as I love and adore this B5 discussion, we shouldn't be continuing it in the daily numbers thread. Do one of you want to start a general B5 discussion in the TV forum? I can move these posts there, if need be.

not sure if there is enough real interest beside agreement about it was a very good show  ...

Eh, this is really all i wanted to say. It's so long since i watched it, forgot a lot.

I'd love me a bluray rerelease with improved SFX because damn they were rough, especially in season 1. Too bad it's likely never gonna happen. :(

Okay, enough off-topic. ;)

Totally agree. Eh, maybe if the rumored feature production ramps up, then we'll start a TV thread too.

The Babylon 5 thread was a dream, given form. Its goal: to prevent another war, by creating a place where Marvelites and Nolanites can work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call – home away from home – for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanderers.

Marvelites and Nolanites, wrapped in two million, five hundred thousand tons of spinning metal . . . all alone in the night.

It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last best hope for peace.
