I forgot how big the first film was, especially internationally: $404m!

I love Dakota but I saw a clip of this and she was terrible in it. She was genuinely great in the first one.

EDIT: You are right! I thought it opened with 65M but it was actually 85M! It made over 50% in 3 days. Baaaad legs, wow.

The first did make $570m on a $40m budget, so it probably mad more pure profit than the other big films in 2015. 

 

So I doubt Universal care about legs lol.

That's true. Huge profit though Darker is likely more expensive but will have worse boxoffice. Still big money.

Apparently they kept the budgets in check, this one and third one only costing slightly more.

 

Revenue from the first film could pay for the budgets + worldwide P&A for the two sequels 10 times over lol.

It was actually reported that Darker and Freed(the third movie) were both filming at the same time each with a budget of 20M for a total of 40M, which is the same budget for the first one. Check a few pages back when we were talking about it.

 

If those reports are true then they were really smart with budgeting this and there's no way in hell they don't make a healthy profit no matter how much the sequels drop.
