There were lots of screenings this evening in Australia.  People should be exiting them about now.

It lifted last night (for Europe anyway) and....nothing from the usual suspects? Are the US/UK critics under a harsher embargo? Did they even screen the film for them?

It's either under embargo or they're hiding it until right before release (since everyone expects a critical drubbing again), which sounds plausible.

Do you really believe that reviews, good or bad, may actually affect its box office? I have a feeling that the people who want to see this will see it anyway while it will be difficult to draw people not intrested even If the reviews are amazing..

E.L. James' more hands on involvement. She should be kissing the asses of the people who made the first movie that they were able to turn her embarrassment to literature into a movie that was at least watchable, if not exactly good.

Well, I haven't watched the first movie and I have no interest in doing so BUT, when I heard some of you saying that this will drop significantly from the first one, I assumed that the first got something like 50s. Seriously how much can it fall from 25%??? It must be really really terrible to achieve that. But who knows...I haven't heard good things for that woman's aesthetics.

I enjoyed the Variety review; it read more as a 'Fifty Shades of Grey was a good movie' hot take which is very true.

Presales here in Denmark is 25% higher than the first one, which had a Huge OD/OW... Great sign no doubt

This might increase OS. It's advertised as a sexy thriller as opposed to just sexy (previous movie).
