Depp probably will given that his film is well-liked and should do very well at the box office, has a nice "thanks for trying again" narrative, and the Best Actor field is completely barren this year. The line-up will likely be Caine (Youth), Depp (Black Mass), DiCaprio (The Revenant), Fassbender (Steve Jobs), and Redmayne (The Danish Girl), and given that the field is so weak, will probably be one of those years where the same line-up occurs at every ceremony.

We haven't even gotten to the Holidays yet. Plenty of time for anyone really to emerge as the frontrunner. Could be a no-name from an indie few have seen yet. And at this point I half expect Leo will need to die before the Academy actually awards him.

Depp is not winning, his movie isn't getting great reviews as whole either. It's Fassbender vs. Leo now. If Leo can't win in this horrible year, then he never will lol.

If early buzz means anything at all it sounds like it's Fassbender's to lose for now. Mind you I'm not one of those people who thinks Leo not winning an Oscar is some huge injustice, so what do I know?
