Impact
IMO Blanchet should actually be nominated for supporting actress for Cinderella.

Impact
Interesting fact-if Ronan gets nominated, she will break an extremely long held record as the youngest person to have a 2nd nomination. The current record holder? Are you ready? Angela Lansbury! Yes! Its been held that long! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Academy_Award_records#Age-related_records

Impact
Nope. Lansbury was 20 when she got that second nomination, Ronan is already 21. Okay I thought she was 19 or 20. Edit: I must of gotten Atonement's year wrong I guess as I do know she was in that. Edited October 16, 2015 by Impact
stripe
ATM, it is obvious there are four actresses with strong chances and a 5th place still wide open. We'll see who will be nommed. Rampling? She is well respected and still no nommed. But the film could be lost between so many big movies. Tomlin? Can be a career tribute for her. But film can be easily forgotten after months of its release. Mulligan? The film is not strongly received, but her performance is strong enough. Blunt? She is great. She is well known. The film has strong buzz and solid BO. But the character is seen as recessive. Danner? An overdue nomination is possible. The film had a strong limited run. But in May. A second nom for Blanchett? Word on her performance in Truth is excellent, but hard to see an actress double nommed. Even more with the less than stellar reviews and the poor limited opening. Jolie? Hard to see, but if the movie turns to be well received... Smith? Smith is a legend and she looks fun and touching, but it looks to be a light/minor film. Might be lost in the battle for attention in December. Smith also missed to be nommed in 2012 with stronger contender Best Exotic Marigold Theron? It could happen. Mad Max has its supporters, she is a star, and will be campaigned.

TStechnij
There is a rule against having 2 nominations for acting in the same category.Yup. I bet Blanchett gets double Globes noms though. IMO, 45 Years isn't going to get lost. It has been a festival darling and will be a special presentation at AFI. Also, it could get in for screenplay and Supporting Actor. It won't, but it'll be close on both accords. Rampling has a really strong narrative and is going to get so many critic awards too. She might not even been the last one in. I would have her more likely to get a nom than Ronan, but I see both of them in. Mulligan seems like a BAFTA only girl. All about Eve - old
I would just hand the Oscar to Saoirse Ronan now. It's a beautiful, beguiling, compelling and utterly moving portrayal. Not for one moment did I think she was 'performing' or 'acting'. I totally believed she was that character.
Blur
1. Brie Larson, Room 2. Cate Blanchett, Carol 3. Jennifer Lawrence, Joy 4. Saiorse Ronan, Brooklyn 5. Charlotte Rampling, 45 Years 6. Carey Mulligan, Suffagette That's how the race is right now. Also, AMPAS could not accept Rooney Mara and Alicia Vikander's fraud category and push them to lead. That would shake things a little. AMPAS usually don't have problems accepting category fraud. The fact that critics are buying it further points to how easy of a sell their frauds will be.
