Jake Gittes
Huh. Well alright. Looks like we might have a good number of contenders this time, unlike last year.

MrPink
Is Del Toro considered a pretty good shot to get a nod for Sicario? It's scary how easy he made that role look. Haven't followed this race much tbh Edited September 28, 2015 by MrPink
TStechnij
Is Del Toro considered a pretty good shot to get a nod for Sicario? It's scary how easy he made that role look. Haven't followed this race much tbh People think SICARIO is going to get shot out but there is in faith in a nom it is Deakins (at least somewhat likely) and Del Toro (not very likely.) The supporting actor race is hard as hell this year and the big ensemble pieces like Spotlight, The Hateful Eight, The Big Short (if it becomes a player) and Joy don't help. PS Joy screened and apparently Edgar Ramirez is co-lead and stellar? I don't know if they'll push him lead so DOR can land a performance in each category again or keep him in supporting but he'd directly compete with their Hardy and De Niro there. We'll see! Jake Gittes
After seeing The End of the Tour it's kind of a shame Jason Segel will get snubbed here.
TStechnij
After seeing The End of the Tour it's kind of a shame Jason Segel will get snubbed here. You can say that again. What a phenomal movie.
Blankments
Bradley Cooper, Joy Robert De Niro, Joy Tom Hardy, The Revenant Samuel L. Jackson, The Hateful Eight Harvey Keitel, Youth Alternates: Michael Keaton, Spotlight Seth Rogen, Steve Jobs Sylvester Stallone, Creed Mark Ruffalo, Spotlight Idris Elba, Beasts of No Nation Kurt Russell, The Hateful Eight As usual, this category is the toughest. WrathOfHan
Elba Rogen Jackson Hardy De Niro If a Steve Jobs actor gets in it seems like it'd be Jeff Daniels.
Jake Gittes
SLJ was reported to be a co-lead in The Hateful Eight, so he might get pushed there to make room for someone else (Dern, maybe Goggins) here.
CoolioD1
Benicio Del Toro, Sicario Robert DeNiro, Joy Idris Elba, Beasts of No Nation Mark Ruffalo, Spotlight Sylvester Stallone, Creed KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE.
TStechnij
The dream for Del Toro? Because I don't know why someone would actually want Stallone to get a nom. That being said I think Stallone could be a darkhorse for a nom especially if the rumors about the character are true.
4815162342
I can see Del Toro getting a nom here. Especially since he essentially takes over the final act of the film for his revenge quest and dominates everyone in every scene

Cmasterclay
Predictions: Mark Rylance (winner, according to early reviews and tweets he is fannntastic in it, and the highlight of the movie. Seems like someone they wanna reward) Michael Keaton Harvey Keitel Elba One of the Hateful Eight guys OR Hardy There's a ton of other guys in contention, with Del Toro putting on a spectacular performance, Ruffalo offering himself up as a contender again, Edgerton getting a ton of praise of Black Mass, Mitchell's hugely popular performance in Compton, Oscar Issac proving how fucking great he is again in Ex Machina, Tremblay getting heavy praise, Rogen earning his stripes, and whoever they push from Joy or Big Short sure to be in contention. Most interesting this category has been in YEARS. And that's ignoring well-regarded performances like Shannon in 99 Homes and Robert Redford in Truth. 4815162342
With only a tiny break of the embargo it may be premature to declare Rylance the frontrunner. We'll know more in a few hours.
Cmasterclay
With only a tiny break of the embargo it may be premature to declare Rylance the frontrunner. We'll know more in a few hours. Of course, it's only a few tweets and leaked reviews. He's my personal front-runner, mostly because I've had him up there higher than most for awhile and because he's a vet in the kind of role/movie vets win for. But in a race this stacked, there's by no means a consensus front runner, no matter how strong his reviews are.
CoolioD1
Oh, I love mark rylance, I forgot he was even in that movie. I'll throw him into my predicts too I guess if he's great. seems like he's due a nod.
