3 years of inflation, the BIG  growth of the Chinese market, being a sequel to the 'biggest and most loved SH movie of the history' and Avengers 2 couldn't even match the first movie.... What an achievement!

Avengers 2 did better overseas though then Ta with terribile exchange rates.

Yep but exchange rates are worse than 2012:

                                  Summer 2012:                                              March 2015:

Argentina:               (US $1 = 4.57036 Argentine Peso)                      (US $1 = 14.509 Argentine Peso)

 Australia:              (US $1 = 0.96348 Australian Dollar)                      (US $1 = 1.3311 Australian Dollar)

Brazil:                   (US $1 = 2.02211 Brazilian Real)                          (US $1 = 3.68255 Brazilian Real)

Chile:                     (US $1 = 482.35 Chilean Peso)                             (US $1 = 670.77 Chilean Peso)

Colombia:               (US $1 = 1788 Colombian Peso)                             (US $1 = 3071 Colombian Peso)

Europe:                  (US $1 = 0.81152 Euro)                                       (US $1 = 0.87745 Euro)

Japan:                     (US $1 = 78.41 Yen)                                           (US $1 = 113.04 Yen)

Mexico:                   (US $1 = 13.2282 Mexican Peso)                          (US $1 = 17.5223 Mexican Peso)

Russia:                   (US $1 = 32.0017 Russian Rouble)                        (US $1 = 67.947 Russian Rouble)

UK:                        (US $1 = 0.64004 British Pound Sterling)                (US $1 = 0.70731 British Pound Sterling)

But you have to also consider the size of the market. Argentina may have the worst exchange rate for American studios but its market is considerably smaller than EU& UK for example. EU rate did get worse but it is not dramatic. Japan can be a substantial market but SH rarely gets much attendance unless it is Avengers which hey consider as a Disney movie.( And you know Japan would watch anything as long as it is Disney. ). Russia, Mexico & Brazil together are a sizable market so the decline in rate could significantly impact BO performance but in the overall scheme of things? You have to consider China & the combined South East Asian markets (Malaysia,Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, a country of 300 million people, Thailand, and Philippines). Avengers Ultron did a combined of (Philippines $14M, Malaysia $13M, Singapore $10M, Thailand $8M, Vietnam $5M, no reports from Indonesia, est $10M) $60M there.

If only China would have performed better. This would have been over 900 million.

The movie is too dark & depressing for Chinese audience. They ares spoiled by Marvel's light touch.

Anyway the 3rd act which should be awe-inspiring turns out to be very disappointing. You cannot

disappoint the audience when it comes to climactic action scenes.
