Early Friday estimates showed a $16 million opening day for “San Andreas,” which is playing at 3,777 locations, and a Friday total of $4.5 million for “Aloha” at 2,815 site.

Solid! I was hoping for hoping for something over $3 (I swear, im not revisionising). I still have no idea how modnights work, but i knew if it was somewhere in the $1 millions, everyone would be panicking, so this is good, especially for an original I think.

Interesting to see how the day plays out. Really interested to see how the WC shows up for this.

What is your prediction. Its not outrageous considering its an "original" flick. WWZ is not a bad comparison. Plus looking at MT.com ticket sales, it was mediocre until its release date. But today its at 40% which means its gonna have great walk up. I read crowd reports about thursday preview sellouts and we can see more than a few this evening.

I think this could hit 50M to be honest. Won't be over by much, but it isn't impossible.

As someone wishing for 2002-2003 attendance levels once again, I'm rooting for anything and everything to overperform.

 

$50-55 million OW for San Andreas!!!  possibly $60 million since this is not a fanboy movie. It's arguably more back-loaded than WWZ since it's not based on existing source material.
