I think Inside Out is taking number #1 spot this weekend.

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I posted in the IO thread before I read this one so I didn't know about the building fervor.

My local theater doesn't usually sell out showings that much.   Only the very biggest movies do that here.

I went last week to the 11:00 am showing of JW to beat the crowds.    As usual, there were plenty of seats.   About 3/4 full maybe.

This week I pulled the same trick.   11:00 am showing for IO.   I get there...the parking lot is mostly empty.   No problem right?   Well....IO is sold out!    It's not like JW went away...it's still showing on 3 screens.   So judging from that parking lot...almost everyone there was seeing IO.    That's just crazy for my theater....but even crazier because JW is playing too.

That was my one hole in my schedule today to see it so I'm screwed until Sunday at least.   Grrrrrr....

$75 million would be good for IO. $90M would be GREAT, but also unlikely even at this point.

Please don't overhype yourselves, people. I want Pixar to succeed but its stuff like this that gets people disappointed over numbers that are otherwise really good.

Agreed.    AoU is living proof of this.    1.4 billion is somehow "disappointing".         80m would be awesome for this.

I've never been so confused by the box-office in my life, wtf is happening? What are the real numbers?

Prime time showings literally just started on the east coast. We are not going to have any sort of accurate estimate until a couple hours from now.

The BOM theater counts are funny. They are showing an increase for Spy due to the typo from last week where as in reality Spy lost 150 theaters or so.

Dumb asses are who they have working on that site now.

Just left my showing... Now I remember why I hate early showings. Kids are so fucking annoying.

From IO? Aside from just not really caring anymore, kids are another reason why I'll never watch an animation movie at the theater again.  Nope.
