Weekend Thread: Weekend Actuals: IO 29.77, JW 29.24, TG 27.02, | IO Wins Weekend!

Recommended Posts

Last Friday gross for both IO & JW is about 27% - 28% of the whole weekend take.

Using the same multiplier, is it possible for these 2 to end up with high 30s?!!!

Independence Day will have a negative effect on grosses.  In 2009, all movies dipped 30-40% from their Friday totals.

That is just too bad. Because Minions will destroy everything next week....

The 2009 slate dropped fairly lightly because of the deflated Saturday, but they were going against such illustrious competition like Bruno.

It always seemed like a really weird decision to release a male stripper dramedy sequel on 4th of July weekend. Nice to know that WB didn't learn their lesson after a raunchy comedy sequel of theirs (Horrible Bosses 2) flopped on Thanksgiving, I guess. Some movies are just really poor fits for holiday weekends.

As I already said, when you have big movies, they suck ut up demand for movies that follow.

People don't check out every summer blockbuster, they choose some of them.

GA chose JW & IO.

For the Pixar fans in all of us, Inside Out will pass WALL-E today, Brave tomorrow, Toy Story 2 and Cars on Sunday, Monsters Inc. on Tuesday and MU/The Incredibles next weekend. :)

Gopher can see the future.

Darn, and I had thought MM could have legged its way through the weekend :( Oh well it isn't a flop by any means.

And I'm happy that TG is rebounding slightly. I don't care if the movie ends up being bad, I just want it to do as well as it can after the hate its gotten over the past year. Go Arnie :)

I'd love a fourpeat from JW, that would be an absolutely amazing streak for a summer movie. Plus I want IO to take that long standing record and snatch it away from Greek Wedding. Bleh, that movie deserves no records.

It's just awesome that JW and IO continue to dominate. Love this team.
