Bourne franchise never gets enough credit. Definitely had a huge influence on grittier takes of Casino Royale and Batman Begins.

 

The Bourne movies are awesome and definitely influenced the tone of James Bond during the Craig era. I doubt it influenced Batman Begins much. Nolan has admitted BB is a love letter to Donner's Superman and the 60's/70's James Bond movies he grew up with. Plus there is a ton of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One influence showing up in the movie as well.

 

Bourne's effect on something like Batman Begins might have been more indirect, such as the box office success of Bourne Identity gave WB more confidence in what Nolan wanted to do with the project. BB was greenlit in early 2003, so not long after Bourne Identity's theatrical run. The enormous success of Raimi's Spider-Man had an even bigger impact on BB getting the green light.

When movies disappoint for weeks, something needs to inject new life into the box office again.

Minions is probably going to be very frontloaded a la Shrek 3 for an animated movie.

The fact it swept the two movies propping up the turds makes it worse when the "killing number" is lower than expected.

I myself think Minions peaked two weeks ago. Not sure why but I guess Inside Out's WOM kicked in then.

Re: Campbell. Both Bonds directed by him are overrated. Rewatch Casino Royale. It's a slog to get through.

I'm surprised Bond as a franchise has held up so well when so many of them are boring.
