Weekend Estimates (pg31): The Martian 37 | HT2 20.3 | Pan 15.5 | Intern 8.66 | Sicario 7.35 | The Walk 3.65 | Steve Jobs 521k

Recommended Posts

Speaking of Steve Jobs, it's on track for 175k today and 531k for the weekend, 102k behind American Sniper: http://deadline.com/2015/10/martian-pan-the-walk-weekend-box-office-1201572119/

It's not going to get the same kind of expansion numbers Sniper got. Sicario was another movie with strong limited release numbers and then didn't live up to those on expansion, went from 66k per screen to 30k per screen to 4k per screen.

Yeah, it should at least do high teens on OW though.

The Walk is gonna open with 5M. Monster bomb. What happened here?

Pan will be lucky if it gets to 27-29M with a big Saturday bump lmao.

I have to say the reviews and the marketing. The marketing for The Walk was pretty bad, the reviews while positive were all pretty much saying "The first 2 acts are okay/bad, but the third act is amazing". Audiences cannot pay just to watch one-third of a movie unfortunately.

Not to mention that the movie has nothing else to offer apart from that one final setpiece which is pretty awesome but not worth paying so much to see in a theater I guess. 9/11 and the WTC are also sticking points for a lot of people.

The Walk did save Gravity's OW record though.

Sony never seemed to have any faith in the film.
