Official Weekend Estimates: Goosebumps - 23.5M; The Martian - 21.5M; Bridge of Spies - 15.4M; Crimson Peak - 12.9M (Page 1)

If the Crimson peak team diverted some of that costume/set design budget to the CGI for the ghosts..I think it could have made a difference.

A small difference like that could have helped with the WOM..and this needed all the help it could get.

They should have kept the movie small and contained while still retaining its Gothic feel, like The Others. The few people who saw it went for the scares, not the lavish sets and costumes.

Still, I really hoped BoS could reach 20m. I know Cold war isn't that hot a topic nowadays and the movie doesn't involve much action but 20's not really that big a sum to ask for and this had Spielberg and Hanks. If released alongside a little less competition or if buoyed by a better marketing campaign I have no doubt this would have crossed 20m. Anyways I still hope for at least a 5x Multi.

If you had told me just a couple months ago that Goosebumps would beat Crismon Peak in both opening weekend box office AND Rotten Tomatoes score, I would've told you to go home because you're obviously drunk.

I probably would have said that.

What has Del Toro ever done to make anyone think that he could do big budget horror?

55m isn't "big budgeted", even if it is bigger then a usual Horror movie. The movie, like I said, already was basically practical, even the CGI ghosts I read weren't exactly CGI.

6 3 Pan WB $5,860,000 -61.7% 3,515 - $1,667 $25,738,183 $150 2

Pan now has the dubious honor of the worst weekend gross in over 3,500 theaters (i.e., including non-OWs).

The previous "record" holder was weekend 3 of Just Like Heaven. In 2005.

Also, the record for lowest attendance for a weekend in over 3,500 locations, previously held for over 5 years by weekend 2 of Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, has been broken twice in the past couple months. First by weekend 2 of Man From UNCLE, and now by weekend 2 of Pan.

The estimated PTA for Pan also comes in under the average for Just Like Heaven weekend 3. And the record for lowest per-theater admissions in over 3,500 venues (also previously Cats & Dogs 2) has been broken three times since August: First by Fantastic Four weekend 2 (due to being in 4,004 theaters), then UNCLE weekend 2, and now Pan weekend 2.

This year is really showing us how low saturated studio releases can sink.

Are people really calling Bridge of Spies a flop? It's gonna have great wom, and probably have between a 4x-5x multi. The budget isn't ridiculous and it should do solid business OS.

This, seriously. It's a Cold War espionage film, not an Indiana Jones movie. Anyone screaming "itz a bomb" regarding this movie should just find another hobby.

Oh boy, 75m may not seem like a lot, but given how it'll probably open next week, it's a disaster.

Lionsgate probably mitigated most of the cost by selling it in overseas markets. Still that is a huge budget for a fairly obscure fantasy/horror title.

Crimson Peak super failure has hidden Spielberg's bomb quite well. Nobody is talking about it.

Bridge of Spies is a bomb with a 40 million budget and a 15 million opening?  How so?

It's a horror movie.  That's a monstrous budget.
