If the Crimson peak team diverted some of that costume/set design budget to the CGI for the ghosts..I think it could have made a difference.

A small difference like that could have helped with the WOM..and this needed all the help it could get.

Universal must be happy they had Legendary fund Crimson Peak 100%. Universal gave Legendary stake in Jurassic World and the Furious franchise when they were trying to close the co-financing deal, in return Legendary has so far given them Seventh Son, Blackhat and Crimson Peak.

I think part of the reason why Universal agreed to Legendary's demands last year was that they had no major franchises, and then suddenly this year they figured out that they actually did and didn't need Pacific Rim to shore up their franchise chest.

Legendary's successful films this year with Universal were either already in development and/or existing properties. Outside of 42, they've not done well with films developed inhouse. It'll be interesting if Warcraft and The Great Wall do well but i wouldn't hold my breath

PG-13 would have helped as well...

@ERCboxoffice
I'M HUGE IN CHINA: Marvel's ANT-MAN blew up China with $43.2M this weekend--2nd largest Disney/Marvel 3-day behind AVENGERS 2.

Who would've thought Ant-Man would be so popular in China? Did they have a really good marketing campaign there? Anyone in the know? I was surprised when GOTG didn't make more there last year.

A wacky Jack Black movie beats a Tom Hanks/Spielberg critical favorite.

RIP Spielberg

You had a decent run.

:rofl:

Seriously though, I'm glad Goosebumps came in #1. It wasn't the mini breakout I ha predicted but I hope it still gets 80M. My games are off to a shaky start, hope I rebound next week :/

Crimson Peak super failure has hidden Spielberg's bomb quite well. Nobody is talking about it.

Bridge of Spies could have great legs due to great WOM and Oscar buzz. Like Argo did which only opened to 4m more.  (Obviously it won't do as well as Argo but it could finish with a solid total still)
