There is a difference between Canadian and US Box office.

 

Goblet of Fire opened as high as TDK here for crying out loud lol on there opening weekend. 

 

With other films DMC, SM3, TDK and TA, it was quite clear here.

However JW broke the record by the smallest margin in a while, therefore over performance in other markets by a few % made all the difference.

I wouldn't count TGD out yet. It could still have a big OW since Wednesday OD for animation are always tricky, and even if it doesn't I really do believe in great WOM for it.

I'm not just trolling for likes from Hunger Games fans, but I'll call MJ2 3 day over $50M based on the strength of its Wednesday. MJ1 one 3 day/Wed comparison actually extrapolates to $53. Knock a couple of million off for increased competition. I have no dog in the fight having never seen a HG film, but I think MJ2 will have a decent multi. $300M is not impossible.
