Excellent for Bad Moms! Next up will be Magnificent 7. Sausage Party will do it soon. Sully has a chance but that will remain question on its OW results. Storks has potential. October has potentially 3 films could do it(Girl On The Train, Accountant, and Inferno). November has 5 potential and some surprises as well. December is easy it's going to be Rogue One, Sing, and Passengers. The rest could decent hits but not $100 million grossers.

  1. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: $103 million
  2. The Girl on the Train: $111 million
  3. The Magnificent Seven: $100 million
  4. Doctor Strange: $187 million
  5. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: $276 million
  6. Trolls: $116 million
  7. Moana: $312 million
  8. Rogue One: $436 million
  9. Sing: $269 million
  10. Passengers: $207 million
  11. La La Land: $163 million
  12. Patriot's Day: $109 million
  13. Arrival: $102 million
  14. Fences: $101 million

Unfortunately, I'd say 34 is the limit unless Inferno, Billy Lynn, Silence or A Monster Calls do better than I expect. If Alice 2 and Sausage Party had inched across the mark, this would've been possible, but I'd say the chances are now pretty low.

Hm...

Well to update my list:

ID:R (already made it)

Tarzan (already made it)

Pets  (already made it)

Ghostbusters (already made it)

Star Trek Beyond (already made it)

Jason Bourne (already made it)

Ice Age (already made it)

Suicide Squad (already made it)

  1. Fantastic Beasts
  2. Mrs. P's School for Peculiar Children (unlikely to make it, but possible) Arrival
  3. Moana
  4. Magnificent 7 (uncertain if will make it, but will be close at least)
  5. Dr. Strange
  6. Girl on the Train (unlikely to make it w $30M opening) Fences
  7. La La Land (more confident of this one than ever)
  8. Assassin's Creed
  9. Storks (unlikely to make it but animation has weird legs imho)
  10. Trolls
  11. Passengers
  12. Space Between Us (don't actually believe this will make it in the crowded months)
  13. Rogue One
  14. Sing
  15. Billy Lynn (unlikely without serious awards buzz)

I guess I don't think we get there, at this point.  And I really don't think Storks, for example, will make it.

Sony is expanding SP soon to fudge it over.

  1. Rogue One
  2. Sing
  3. Passengers
  4. Arrival
  5. La La Land
  6. Live by Night
  7. Fences/Hidden Figures (one or the other IMO)

Don't see Assassin's Creed, Patriots Day, Silence or Why Him? reaching the mark (they might not even pass $75 million DOM). Office Christmas Party most likely won't, either, since it's getting middling buzz.

Hopefully 2017 can get some mid-level $100-125 million performers early on, so the record can be reached next year.

Hopefully 2017 can get some mid-level $100-125 million performers early on (Split, A Dog's Purpose, Fifty Shades Darker and Fist Fight could all reach the mark, with LEGO Batman most likely as a juggernaut), so the record can be reached next year.

Fifty Shades and Lego Batmman will but the rest that you listed will all be lucky to reach 50m.

Patriots Day has a better shot than Live by Night at $100M.
