Am I reading this right? The forest made almost $5 million on Friday? I thought it would make that the entire weekend.

Gramercy is a different unit of Focus that releases horror titles like The Forest (they also released Insidious 3 under that label last year). It actually began under Polygram Films in the 90s until they shut their doors and became to USA Films (which would later retitle itself Focus Features) and is now being revived as a specialty unit.

London Has Fallen is also getting released under that label

The Forest doing ok seems not too surprising. There's a history of low-tier horror movies that mark themselves as the first wide releases of the new year doing acceptable business (One Missed Call, The Unborn, the notorious The Devil Inside, to name a few).

The Revenant making north of 35 million (that's surpises me) the film should make over 100 million domestic. Star Wars taking a steep drop considering holidays are now done and over with should still maybe have a chance to 900 million domestic. The Forest will make its way to 10-12 million considering frontloading and should make north of 20 million domestic. Daddy's Home taking a hit but still making profit for both actors(Will Ferrell, and Mark Wahlberg) should end its run with at least 145 domestic. Sisters is still doing well should make its way to 90 million.

The Devil Inside was an epic run. A third of its gross on OD, 2/3 on OW.
