Cause it's basically a giant theatre play/comic book come to life? The appeal to me isn't about the men pretending to fight in thongs (just saying that makes me feel question my own purpose in this world), but the storytelling and the entertainment that it provides. Everybody knows it's fake. I like to watch it simply because of it's narrative, larger than life characters style.

I understand all of that. I know the fans know it's fake. But the acting isn't even good, nor are the stories. The drama in combat sports is not only real (most of the time), but it's just as entertaining.

Not all books are great, but there is definitely a lot of material that can/could be transferred to movies.  The first book in the Legacy series "Betrayal" shows how a Jedi decides to become a Sith.  I'm not talking about turning to the dark side, because Jacen had already turned to the dark side  I'm talking about making a thoughtful decision to become a Sith even if the logic is twisted.

The X-wings series is great even though Jedi/Sith/Force have very limited  presence.

So far I'm not impressed by the new EU novels.

They are so insanely interesting to me. These are the first SW books I read, all based on the idea of a Jedi turning dark. It resembled Anakin's journey, which is far and away the best thing in all the movies for me. And it is just beautifully done. Yesterday I began and finished the 6th book. Today I think I'll finish or come close to finishing the 7th one:lol:

Hey just so you guys know...you can experience basically the same thing, but, you know...it's real...if you watch boxing or especially MMA.

That's right. There's a super masculine soap opera for men where big personalities fight each other for glory. The only difference is it's all real and it takes technical skills and actual athletic prowess to accomplish it.

Sorry, I just don't understand pro wrestling's appeal when there's the real thing on another channel.

I can't laugh with that.

Also, there aren't people flying in that either. No fun.

Well, if that's what you feel, I won't judge you. I'm not overly interested in combat sports myself - I like boxing and some of the martial arts, but MMA I always found pretty boring. Many of my friends told me to get into UFC and I couldn't do it. But I get why it's so beloved and all.

There's plenty to laugh at. Believe me. But I get that some people just wont ever be able to take combat seriously as a sport.

I'm sorry, but did you just imply that being a professional wrestler takes no athletic prowess? On what basis do you make this accusation? Because I can tell you right, it's not even remotely accurate. The fact that it's not a real competition doesn't make the laws of momentum hurt any less.

It's all relative. Yeah, they have to be in shape and they have to have a strong measure of physical resilience, but it's nothing compared to what boxers or MMA fighters go through.

Combat sports is the best of both worlds for me. It's athletic competition and it's ridiculous theatrics.

People watch sports for heroes mostly. I can't get that from pro wrestling.

Without him the movie fails. Dry as dirt. With a clown.

Why the fuck are you even trying to argue about this 8 years after the fact? Is is because we're so far removed from the avalanche of Heath Ledger media coverage?

Because BvS has a similar weightiness. It is what separates it from the typical CBM fare.

That is why it is great.
