MEH-MORIAL DAY WEEKEND BOX OFFICE | Abandon all hope, the box office is dead. 3 day weekend #s X-Men 65M, Alice 28.1M, Angry Birds 18.7M, Civil War 15.1M, Neighbors 9.1M. Bad openings, horrible holdovers.

I am curious to see the TCs. Shocking that X-Men is going over the 4100 theaters. Also shocking that Disney won't force Alice 2 to go over the 4000 theaters as well.

Disney needs to save for Dory.

4148 theaters for X-Men and 3763 theaters for Alice.

Disney isn't even trying are they? That is the lowest TC for any Disney live-action fairy tale by 200 theaters, even Tomorrowland was in almost 4000 theaters last year.

Change of plans. Instead of seeing Alice Friday night and Apocalypse Saturday night, it's now Apocalypse Saturday matinee and Alice Sunday night.

It is actually the lowest by 100 theaters. Still hilarious that a sequel to a 330M+ monster hit can't get at least 3900 theaters like fucking Tomorrowland.

I think Alice would have done better in the Spring. But whatever. Disney gives no fucks. They know this thing will still end up giving a profit.

Their Spring was kind of filled with Zootopia and Jungle Book.    Lesser properties (sequels to $1b movies that might only make $400-500m) will have to just be happy to be released.

Big drops for Cap, Huntsman, and Keanu. Jungle Book and Money Monster are losing all of the smaller theaters (4-8 screens). Zootopia is pretty much a big multiplex-only movie now.

Surprisingly big drop for Civil War, loses more theaters than Ultron or IM3.

Mother's Day is pretty much done, will probably be in dollar theaters next weekend.

Even more reason for it to have a high-40's drop for the 3 day.

It will be interesting for sure. Ultron and IM3 didn't lose IMAX and PLF on the same weekend. Ultron lost IMAX to Tomorrowland but mostly held on to PLF. IM3 lost IMAX a week earlier when STID debuted and lost PLF the MD weekend. Civil War is losing both this weekend after being hit by losing a lot of 3D screens to Angry Birds last weekend.

So I am in line for Alice... Fml. I hate myself. But anyway, X-Men is only showing twice tonight at the busiest theater in town, and we are an hour out from the first show and it has yet to sell out. It's at a little over 50%... Which is hella low. Alice is even worse, but it has four showing including the IMAX. But again, no one has even lined up for the IMAX show and only four of us are here for the standard 2D show... I foresee a very exciting weekend, but not in the good kind of exciting way.

Wish I had the kind of courage it takes to admit you're actually paying to see Alice this weekend.

It is not THAT bad
