I'm thinking s 23/55 domestic run. Which will be obsolete since the movie will do 500M+ OS.

I don't mind as long as it gets a few sequels.  I just want to see Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne play out on the big screen and then I'm good.

It'd be great if we could have one year where every film released is a hit.  It's a shame that'll never happen.  I'd love to see really obscure movies become big hits.

Luckily this has been a great year for indies. Eye in the Sky, Hello My Name is Doris, and now Love & Friendship have all done especially strong business.

In what world is Eye in the Sky an indie movie?

According to Deadline:

Quote

Still, Emilia Clarke is easy on the eyes and 18% of the audience said they turned up to watch The Game of Thrones actress, while 21% cited The Hunger Games Mockingjay hunk Sam Claflin.

Get those big screen careers, Daenerys and Finnick.

We don't have a 200m film so far. First one could be ID:R or CI.

But every big blockbuster is practically a B+ or A-.  Why not Flixter, IMDb, or Metacritic user if you want to see what audience members thought?

Cinemascore is a really flawed scoring method.  More than usual

The scale is skewed positive, and even the creators of Cinemascore have indicated as such. A "B+" is considered average. Therefore, an "A-" or above is a predominantly positive reaction (a green light) and a "B" or below is a predominantly negative reaction (a yellow light), with a "C" or below being a warning to stay away at all costs (a red light).

How could it possibly be any more flawed than online user reviews, where you don't even need to see the movie in order to rate it? Even if the sample they take isn't truly representative of the target audience's taste (something on which I can render no judgment positive or negative, not having access to the relevant information), an opinion from someone who saw it is inherently superior to an opinion from one who hasn't.

The only 200-299M films this year will be Ghostbusters, Suicide Squad, Doctor Strange, and Assassin's Creed. Maybe Jason Bourne.

OMG, go! Have you not seen it yet?

Not much of an animated movie guy. Plus I already was seeing a ton of movies in March so I decided to wait for the blu-ray. If I can catch it with Dory though I'll definetly see it in theaters.

BP is okay? Cap is nearly there?

Most Marvel fans absolutely love the MCU version of these characters.

Those dissatisfied with these two are in the minority.

Iron Man in MCU is one of the most successful comic book characters of all time. Are you absolutely certain the classic Errol Flynn version would've been more popular with audiences?

Are you guys suggesting WB, Sony and Fox would do much better with these characters? lmao.

I'm saying the MCU versions are successful and the studio is doing a good job with them, but they are definitely not the comic versions. Marvel Studios success is in how they differentiate from the source material, not accurately adapting it. A common sentiment is that the studio adheres to the comics for their success. That's absolutely false. Fox and WB has done better accuracy to poorer BO results. An example of this would be a near carbon copy adaptation of Watchmen vs a Civil War story that is barely reflective of its source.

This is could be a generational disconnect. WB and Fox are mostly pulling from the 80s as the best work for their characters are 80s inspired. Modern fans don't seem to understand this at all. MCU is nothing like the classic form but seems to reflect modernized comic versions that have taken on the cinematic personalities.

So far all the sequels released this spring and summer fail to top their predecessors except for CW. Most notable is Alice 2's DOM being likely to be lower than Alice 1's OW...

Watched TMNT2 and Angry Birds yesterday. TMNT2 is competently made and definitely better than the first one, the comedy mostly lands but there was never any plotline which is given time to develop, everything is just rushed through to get to the next set piece. The set pieces are lacking in any real tension throughout as well.

Really liked Angry Birds, for a movie where the writers instructions were "We need a scene where birds use a catapult to fling themselves to the pig castle to recover their eggs - now write a movie around that", it was surprisingly well made. Some scenes are flat out hilarious and the pee-joke is probably the best of its kind (competition is probably Adam Sandler movies though). There is a scene which is pretty much the exact same as the Quicksilver scene from DOFP.
