fuck Lion King

Caligula, now that's a family movie. Malcolm Mcdowell at his finest

Learn about ancient Rome, the fine emperor, his family and push-popping

Skip Caligula and just watch the vastly superior I Claudius.  What a family.

If PETS does 300m+ which is looking likely, the sheen of the milestone goes away somewhat for me.

~95m OW and 3.1x gives it 295m around which point studios more often than not will push it over. 3.2x gives 304m.

I think SW7 brought people back to the movies in a big way. More footfalls for one movie means more trailer views for a host of other movies and there's a cycle if one of those other movies ends up big too.

3RD UPDATE, Saturday 12:33AM: Refresh for updates. Chart coming The $95M-$96M estimated opening for Illumination Entertainment/Universal’s The Secret Life of Pets this weekend is being seen by the industry as a bright turning point in what has been a truly lackluster summer. Summer through 63 days currently totals $2.27B according to ComScore, -5% from last summer and -12% from 2013 when summer churned out a record $4.7B

Also in the mix this weekend is 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment’s R-Rated Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, a definite piece of counterprogramming to Pets in an effort to meet adult needs. Yes, the $33M comedy earned $6.1M tonight and will slightly beat its early week projections with a $16M opening.

Considering the 1.6m previews that multiplier for Mike & Dave seems a bit high.  Might end closer to $14m

dory is badly hunt down by pets.....only $6.1m, this even worse than wednesday figure

It's dropped below Toy3 which did $6.48m.  Dory might have a higher Sat jump though since SLOP opened much bigger than DM

Fantastic for Pets, OW looking 95-100m.

With IO internal multiplier, Dory makes 19.7m for the weekend.

Purge 3 drops  slightly better than Purge 2 actually. 80m+ finish likely.

Tarzan will make close to 20m with that number. Sub 50% drop for the weekend and 125m+ DOM.

Central Intelligence just wont stop and looks to finish with 125m+ , probably 130m+. Great legs.

AWFUL for BFG. Simply terrible. Sub 60m DOM.

Another solid hold for Shallows. 55-60m DOM.

Pets will do 100m. Dory needs to have good holds from now on to touch 500m. Good hold for Tarzan. Thinking it could hit 19m. Amazing for Central Intelligence. And looool at that BFG drop. Where is it's amazing WOM?

I don't think it did seeing as admissions are down from most years.
