My bad. I thought you were saying that Star Trek and Bourne were only geared towards the older audiences.

Bourne will play almost exclusively to adults for the most part.

The opening weekend audience for Into Darkness was 75% over 25 so I see no reason to believe a repeat of that won't occur here.

Trek will play to similar audience as GB. Nostalgia too with it being 50th anniversary.

Anyone think Pete's Dragon is going to break out?

Did anyone have it in their top 15 in the summer game?

It should make more than The BFG at least. It's certainly a much easier sell.

Honestly I have no idea. People are really digging the trailers but to me it looks like your average E.T. ripoff. "Boy and mystical creature share friendship; asshole goverment/police douchebags try to fuck it up because they don't understand it". Super cliche stuff.

Bryce Dallas Howard tho...

It's a remake of a 1977 Disney movie.

Ghostbusters could flop. Reports are the production budget alone is between 144-188m .

And China won't be in the mix
I think they said they need 500M WW to label it as a success.

Yes. I am aware. The film was a cheesy musical comedy with a cheesy animated dragon.

I am not satisified with how they are remaking it.

I've never liked the original so the way they've gone about with the remake is fine in my books.

According to Paul, the director, he told Vulture it needs to reach $500M. And if that's the case, good luck buddy!

“A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low. But the thing I care about most is the industry looking for an excuse to say, ‘See, a tentpole can’t be carried by female leads’ ” — three of whom are over 40. I cashed in all my chips. I had to use every chip to make this happen. And if this doesn’t work, I will probably have to go back to movie jail"

Here's what happens for Friday if it follows....

Ant-Man: $15.1m

Legend of Tarzan: $17.7m

Trainwreck: $20.3m

Pixels: $20.6m

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: $21.8m

Grown-Ups 2: $23.1m

Spy: $23.3m

Central Intelligence: $24m

I think somewhere around $18-20m seems about right.
