Horror its largely USA, Canada doesn't contribute much (compared to avg norm also similar with other OS markets)  exceptions films like Conjuring, PA, Witch did well. Have to see overall how LO performs there would say at least initally it will one of the better performing ones of recent times

After seeing it tonight I would have to say it's well deserving. I think I even enjoyed it more than Conjuring 2.

Updated RT Watch/Critical Reception for Wide-Release Summer films:

Finding Dory, Nice Guys, and Captain America look to still be the clear winners of the summer season thus far, as the only films with 90%+ and an average rating above 7. We'll see if Jason Bourne, with Greengrass & Damon back, will end up in that higher tier of critical reception or not. I'm also very interested in seeing how Suicide Squad is received by critics.

Ice Age is nearly the worst rated film of the summer - from this perspective, it's not much of a surprise that it looks to open so poorly.

Summer Films (Wide-Release — May/June/July so far)

FRESH

Finding Dory - 94% - 7.7 rating

The Nice Guys - 91% - 7.6 rating

Captain America: Civil War - 90% - 7.6 rating

The Conjuring 2 - 80% - 6.7 rating

The Shallows - 77% - 6.5 rating

The BFG - 73% - 6.7 rating

Ghostbusters - 73% - 6.4 rating

Secret Life of Pets - 73% - 6.2 rating

Central Intelligence - 68% - 5.7 rating

The Infiltrator - 67% - 6.5 rating

Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising - 62% - 5.7 rating

ROTTEN

Me Before You - 59% - 5.6 rating

Money Monster - 57% - 5.9 rating

The Purge: Election Year - 54% - 5.4 rating

X-Men: Apocalypse - 48% - 5.7 rating

Free State of Jones - 43% - 5.4 rating

Mixed feelings about Lights Out. The movie feels incredibly rushed and the scares don't land quite as hard as I had hoped (plus they become repetitive). But what I did like was the mother-daughter relationship and the strong performances by Maria Bello and Theresa Palmer (who has gorgeous eyes that really draw you in).

It's gonna be so fascinating seeing how AbFab The Movie does and how frontloaded it ends up being. There were a handful of people dressed up in costume as Edina and Patsy (or in the case of one crazy old lady, Edina's kooky assistant Bubble) or wearing AbFab shirts in the lobby. LMAO. I always knew the show had its devoted fanbase but never thought they were this fanatical.

It's a cult classic and one of my favorite shows ever tbh!!!

It's only playing in one theater in my state, and it's three hours away. I'll be going to see it next weekend.

I've never fully gotten into the show but I've seen episodes over the years (after all, it only seems to return every now and then via specials) and holy hell is it hysterical. Patsy is such a deliciously bitchy role for Joanna Lumley to sink her teeth into.

Thank you Ryan. It should have been on the list, as it was a summer wide release - I have added it and revised my post. Thanks for pointing that out!

Peace,

Mike

I kinda feel bad for Maria Bello. She was explosively good in The Cooler and was doing cool stuff like A History of Violence...and now she's relegated to mom roles in micro budget horror movies.

Still not as bad as being Kevin James wife in Growns Up and Grown Ups 2.

So looks like Deadline has just given up on posting any concrete numbers along with every other site as well. Doesn't look like this weekend is inspiring anyone to post on the thread either. Boring weekend all around.

IA5 with $7m looks to go under $20m, closer to $19m.

Planes2 did did a $6.4m ($5.95m minus previews) Friday for $17.4m w/e.  Planes did $8.16m for $22.23m.  Both with around a 2.76m w/e multi

I was calculating IA5's weekend using PETS preview::OW ratio,

(0.850/5.3)*104.35 and got 17

But smaller numbers sometimes find it easier to give a good multiplier and high-teens/low-20s seemed possible.

Now with a Friday of 7, I think worse, mid, bad scenario probably are

0.850 + 6.250 + 7 + 5.40 = 19.50

0.850 + 6.250 + 7.50 + 5.90 = 20.50

0.850 + 6.250 + 8 + 6.40 = 21.50

I don't know about you guys, but when Paramount saw that Universal scheduled JB for July 29th, they were like

(DIRECT QUOTE FROM MOVIE BTW, NO JOKE)

Is anybody excited for Bourne though? I think it'll disappoint and do closer to Legacy than Ultimatum.
