I think it had more to do with the Changes behind the scenes and the general upheaval on the Live Action Side of Disney the last decade. Even in early 2010 there was still talk of #3 but yeah we are coming up on 10(!) years since #2 so the ship has probably sailed as far as not collapsing in gross. I would still be way down for another one though but I really enjoy that kind of film.
