What else there to really talk about? Well the stuff I shared already has already been mentioned. All we know is Lionsgate and Paramount are in a rut this year. Sony is doing sucessful with more modest -budget films.

My 3:15 crowd for Don't Breathe was pretty small, as to be expected. Nevertheless, between the strong preview number and the tendency of horror/horror-ish films to play better at night, I'm feeling confident in a double-digit Friday number.

 

As I noted over in the review section, there's one scene in particular that I almost wish I could have seen with a huge crowd. Crowds for horror movies are usually more trouble than they're worth (for instance, my Conjuring 2 opening night crowd was one of the most obnoxious I've ever seen, and it's also the only movie I've ever attended where a police officer was stationed inside the auditorium throughout the entire running time), but I'm betting the reaction for the scene in question (if you've seen the film, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about) would have been priceless.

I actually think horror movies are the only time an irritating audience is worthwhile. To this day, seeing Disturbia on opening night in a nearly sold out theater full of obnoxious teenagers is one for the books.
