BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY | Nov 2 2018 | Fox | Rami Malek | Queen biopic | Bryan Singer fired | Kindly avoid libeling anyone in this thread

Isn't the reason that Sacha Baron Cohen left was because this isn't about Freddie Mercury the man and Queen but really about the band Queen reeling through the years way after his death like showing them still going on with Paul Rodgers and then Adam Lambert (and also tame down Mercury's wild hedonist life and his sickness to sanitize the whole into a conventional musical biopic like Queen's musical "We will rock you")?

Love Brian May but this is so obviously missing the point and why Mercury was the shining celestial light of the band.

Freddie Mercury wrote the most perfect pop/rock/symphony song ever, guy was a freaking genius, an iconic live performer and that voice, man, that voice ...

I still wonder how they recorded those damn multi tracks operatic vocals, it sounded so huge & epic & bombastic.

No other band managed to do this as good ever since.

Not personally expecting from this considering the band made it clear they want a squeaky-clean, sanitized biopic. Congrats to Malek I guess on getting his very own Imitation Game if he's lucky.

Seeing how Singer is in talks it may just be his Valkyrie.

Isn't Rami like an entire foot shorter than Freddie? They're gonna have to get seriously creative with camera angles.

The general audience (and I'd wager to say most Queen fans) won't care about that kind of stuff.  If the performances are great and the movie "works"...that's all that matters.  Case-in-point: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

(But I'm cynical about this with Singer...and especially without Baron-Cohen.)

That didn't hamper Joaquin Phoenix to win an Oscar for his Johnny Cash's portrayal, Cash was 6'2-ish, Phoenix is 5'8 top.

Charisma has no height.

DPs that worked on Tom Cruise movies would tell you amazing tales about that.
