The Oscars 2017 on ABC | 89th Academy Awards | Discuss It Live Here | Super Sale to Honor the Steve Harvey moment! (p124)

Might as well compare my top 9 to the Oscar's top 9:

1. La La Land

2. Arrival

3. Rogue One

4. Don't Breathe

5. Hacksaw Ridge

6. Manchester by the Sea

7. The Nice Guys

8. The Witch

9. Fences

Arrival

Fences

Hacksaw Ridge

Hell or High Water

Hidden Figures

La La Land

Lion

Manchester by the Sea

Moonlight

I haven't seen Moonlight or Lion, Hell or High Water cracks my top 20 at #19, and Hidden Figures doesn't crack my top 40 despite really liking it (I put it behind Girl on the Train and Pete's Dragon at #42).

Celebrities have every right to say whatever they want. They aren't slaves for your entertainment. They're people that do jobs and deserve to use the platform for whatever they want to if people are kind enough to pay them or give them awards.

Did it say anywhere in my post that they don't have the right to do that? I'm saying for my personal preference I have no interest in it so I'm exercising my right not to watch the Oscars.

Your soapbox is getting a little worn out.

Last year's noms for me went like:

Room

The Revenant

Mad Max: Fury Road

The Martian

Spotlight

Bridge of Spies

Brooklyn

The Big Short

My top 8 was vastly different from the Oscars though.  Only two nominees actually made my top 8.

1. Room

2. The Force Awakens

3. The Revenant

4. Inside Out

5. Hateful Eight

6. Straight Outta Compton

7. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

8. Steve Jobs

i've seen the reader. act one is about a teenage boy's sexual awakening. act two is a courtroom drama about the holocaust. act three is ralph fiennes teaching elderly kate winslet how to read in prison. the movie is in fact, all of the oscar things. no way it wouldn't be nominated.
