My locals tonight...

1st local (Cinemark)

12 Strong - 17/370

D of T - 9/120

2nd local (Regal)

12 Strong - 12/100

D of T - 29/180

Nothing amazing yet...and it seems both theaters knew which movie would sell better at each:)...

Looks like 12 Strong is... 12 seats strong at that theatre...

One theater popped - one didn't...grabbed now (12 Strong has 15 minutes to 1st show, but D of T has started)...

1st local

12 Strong - 17/370

D of T - 16/120

2nd local

12 Strong 47/100

D of T 95/180

2nd local usually sells the male-skewing movies better...and it is again...

And for those wondering, TLJ continues to lose theaters at a slightly higher rate than RO...RO lost 559 for this weekend - TLJ loses 634...now behind by about 150 theaters...

Previews:

12 Strong: 31/113

Thieves: 28/78

My Girl: 7/60

12 Strong comps:

80% of American Made (13.4M)

80% of THB (17.1M)

120% of The Commuter (16.4M)

205% of Downsizing (10.3M)
240% of Only the Brave (14.4M)

Thieves:

70% of American Made (11.8M)

105% of The Commuter (14.4M)

185% of Downsizing (9.3M)

215% of Only the Brave (12.9M)

Unless they're closer to Downsizing, neither should miss 10M for the weekend. Who'd have thought? :sparta:

My Girl:

30% of Boo 2! (6.4M)

35% of Home Again (3M)

40% of MBU (4.2M)

115% of Same Kind of Different as Me (3M)

Go with those Home Again/Different comps IMO

My theater's weekend also has Den of Thieves doing pretty well too. And people say Gerard Butler isn't a draw! 😏

Just now, DAJK said:

After last weekend and Paddington, I'm going to trust Han in that 12 Strong could surprise and do mid-to-high teens rather than the 12/13M expected

It's possible, but I feel the Friday comps are a bit off. Thank Christ the Derby deadline is late again

I'm somewhat getting that feeling too, especially if A Wrinkle in Time underperforms as much as I think it does

Why do people here think this? It's an extremely popular book and a kid's flick.

People here tend to under-estimate live action family fare, especially these Disney ones. Happens all the time. Actually, kids/family stuff in general is underestimated here unless it's Pixar or WDAS.
