That’s 4 added showing in the last 30 minutes. All 4 are below 70% right now of course. 26+6+4=36.

Right, exactly. Of the 32 showings that aren’t super new, 32/32 are above 70.

what was the biggest OW PTA from wide release ever?

300,000,000/4474 = 67,054.1 PTA

is it doable?

Actually, ROTJ $66,950 adjusted

I know I know, 1983 was a very different time and 1000 theaters vs 4000 is different and perhaps adjusted isn't the best measurement. But hey, it's bigger than TFA, and the theatre count only needs to increase by 7 theatres to get to $300m with that PTA

IW - 88%

IFP - 2.3%

AQP - 1.6%

Rampage - 1.1%

ST2 - 0.8%

These are within 12 minutes of each other in relative terms.

So basically at same point in time. This bodes incredibly well for IW, given competition for TLJ was much weaker

Just now, The Mad Titan said:

How does that compare to BP and TLJ?

Blows away BP handily and on par with TLJ.

But previews at other theaters are not as big as TLJ though.

AMC Empire and Disney Springs both have a large variety of sellouts (like 1/2 sold out at least). Don't know if this is too typical, but looking around at random AMCs (I checked about 10 in different states). All but 1 had sellouts, and most had 1/3 sold out completely, one of which was unreserved as well.

Looking strong anyway

By the way, the reason for the time between checking and posting is that I was quadruple checking everything.

Plus manually adjusting all of those theaters with 1 or 2 or 3 seats left took a bit of time.

In case people care, this was the statblock before manual adjustment:

The reason I adjust for those six seats is for a couple of reasons.  1) It takes me about an hour to go through so many showings and on busy nights, those seats will probably be snapped up, especially since I stop checking about 45 minutes before the showing starts.  Another reason to do it is because I'm not going to check for tonights showings, so I'll miss all of those seats sold.

For the Compare/Contrast, TLJ at about three hours out (which was when I last checked that one):

21 (-5) [R1: 8]

Heavily Sold (75% to 89% sold out)

TLJ still beats it, even with two less theaters in town at the time.  HOWEVER, IW has the edge on front two rows or less, so it really could be that they will end up neck-and-neck.

Or at least fairly close.  Just have to see how it all shakes out. :)

Decided last night to do this for a while.  Just gonna stick with seat count for now until things get more interesting.  Might only do it weekly until it picks up some steam or I might post it two or three times a week.  Or if the seat total goes up enough, daily in here.  Just have to play it by ear.

Only have seat counts for BP and IW, neither one are very good comps, for obvious reasons.  But I can provide them, if asked. :)
