Compared to  I Feel Pretty, Life Of The Party etc it's looking lower than that so far.

It's not great if you want an opening above tracking, which some folks are hoping for. 

 

It's also not great if you want one at tracking, b/c to hit $30M+, I'd be expecting CR to have at least HT3 presales, since Disney is a renowned prebuy studio for pretty much all its movies...so I'm putting tracking as a ceiling not a floor unless prebuys pick up...

Yeah, I don't understand that position at all - it's why there's so much constant disappointment on this board for movies that are doing well.

 

Also, Disney is not a renowned pre-buy for all it's movies.  Animation and family movies aren't at any level near Marvel and Marvel isn't anywhere near SW.   Genre matters.

Yes, which is why I didn't say it needed to I2 or AIW ratio's of presales for an opening at tracking...if you do that kinda ratio math with those movies, you'd be even more worried, but I don't think they apply, even though they are Disney.

Unless you thought the movie was opening to $50m+ I'm not sure where these warning signs are coming for you.

 

The movie it's most akin to on that list is probably Hotel Transylvania - which appeals to families, but is also more pre-sale heavy than most family films because it's a sequel.

 

Using just the Monday #s as a % would give CR a $39m opening.

I might be too blind, but is on that fantasyleague site a way to have a look at what other movies did in presales the week before release? So that I could compare that "The Meg" number to other movies in the same time frame?

Both Google Doc Archives on the site don't provide that information.
