As far as I know most (if not all) schools are not out in the first week of May which leads to weaker weekdays but stronger weekends. Even the very well received SH movie tend to fall close to 70 than 60%

 

June on the other hand has many(most?) schools out which leads to much better holds on weekdays. Even not so well received movies with short legs had better monday holds than their well received May counterparts. 

 

So you cannot directly compare summer movies (june,july,august) to other months without keeping that in mind.

But not even the not-so-well-received SH movie like Iron Man 2 fell more than 70% on the first Monday, And it was released in May

IM3 fell 73.8, check your numbers. And i don't know what your point is but here are some numbers. 

 

Non-summer openers first monday fall

 

Spiderman 1- 65.3

The avengers - 66.9

Logan - 70.1

Doctor Strange - 70.6

CA2 - 73.5

Iron Man - 73.4

 

Summer openers first monday fall

 

Xmen:FC - 61

The Wolverine - 61.1

TIH - 61.4

FF2 - 64.1

MoS - 65.3

Green Lantern - 66.1

 

So even if a turd like Green Lantern can manage a similar drop to Spiderman 1 and better drop than Logan, The Avengers and Iron Man 1 then you can very well conclude that summer weekdays are much stronger than non summer. Guardians had the worst drop for a May big opener. Of course it  played younger than most other movies. Avengers expanded its audience base and had amazing monday drop. that is why it ended with 3x multi despite may weekdays. SM1 was different era. Amazing multi from today's standards, but back then movies were not as frontloaded as today.

I'm thinking $10.2-10.6m, being an early June weekday the Monday drops are usually in the mid 60s for these kinds of films.

Guardians of Galaxy 2 were really so well received? Do you really think? If it really had been, it would have been at least x2.8  multiplier, May 2017 was the best month of May in decades, had no competition

yes the weekdays in the summer are better.

 

 Iron Man 3 had a multi of 2.35 whereas GoTG2 will likely finish with a multi of 2.6 which is actually quite decent. But no lets ignore the numbers, we'll go along with whatever agenda you have. 

 

GoTG2 had a OW of 146, will finish with 380+, multi of 2.6. But it was not so well received, sure champ whatever you say.

Are you thick or being deliberately ignorant? Most if not all schools are out in August. That is not the case in first week of May
