a2k
10.9m os weekend and 6.8 dom weekend for 1235.4 ww. 1300 looks tough. I think 30 more os and 20 more dom is the most it can do for a solid 1285 ww (-23% from JW1's 1671).
KP1025
I'm just happy it will cross F8 to become Universal's 3rd highest grossing film worldwide.
a2k
top 3 ww could have been disney but jw2 will spoil the party by staying well ahead of i2. aiw, bp, jw2, i2, ? bp staying ahead of jw2 is pretty mind-blowing. last year i had aiw v jw2 for #1 ww 2018, but jw2 will be closer to and below bp in the end. BP's enormous overperformance DOM sailed the ship. Id even argue it also somewhat overperformed OS for a non-teamup MCU film.

spectroul
Dang, I hope it gets to 1.3B. If it hadn't underperformed on UK in comparison to the first JW, 1.3B would be locked.

It still has atleast 20m in the tank there. If it holds well next weekend against I2, MI6 and 4 local openings it will for sure do $30m in the rest of it's run in Japan. EDIT: Even with a harsh drop next week JW will do $26m more in Japan. I could see it doing 4.1B yen more if it holds good next week ($37m) Edited July 30, 2018 by pepsa
pepsa
OS was underestimated by $2.3m this WE. The actual weekend was $12.9m, the actuals are 21% higher than the est, this is great! What I am expecting: $22m more DOM $35m more from Japan It had a $7.3m OS-Jap weekend, I think 3x this WE is doable so another $22m OS-Jap. JW-FK WW tot (projection): 1.316B So anything from 1.3B to 1.325B is realistic I think.

a2k
now i think 1300 is alive. Is 62.3 away from 1300 after, - 6.7 dom weekend - 12.9 os weekend (with 5.5 from japan and 7.4 os-japan) how much more can it add : - japan cume is 43.8 and could do as much as 80 according to corpse*, but say it does 75 total so adds 31 more after sunday. - os-japan should add 14.5 more for 810.5 total after a 7.4 weekend if not more. - dom should add 17.5 more (2.5*6.7 weekend) for 414.5 total if not a bit more. So 75 japan + 810.5 os-japan + 414.5 dom = 1300 i think os-japan and dom could add 2-3m more each than my numbers. if japan goes closer to 80 then 1310 is possible on the high-end. either way, 1290-1310 seems like a reasonable range. EDIT: *corpse/japan bot thread: ">Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom falls to second place, but still delivered an excellent third weekend hold, and is now trailing its predecessor by 17% (down from 20% last week) after three weeks in release. It will likely continue to gain on the first film since it has Obon Festival in two weeks, so a total of ¥9 billion ($80 million) is looking very good right now, which should be enough for it to win the 2018 Yearly Crown, though it's not certain yet." Even 72-74 odd in Japan could be enough for 1300 if dom crosses 415 and os-japan adds 2.1x this weekend (7.4) to it's cume. Quigley
Among sequels of $1.5B+ films, JW:FK does not rank last anymore, since it has just passed Fate of the Furious. It will probs not beat TLJ (and definitely not AoU for that matter) so it will rank 3/4.

Probably Fallout's new openings took away from JW. Still, was more or less expecting it and I think it hits 875, plus 420+ domestic.
a2k
10 os weekend and 4 dom weekend takes it to 1260 ww. japan is on 52.2 and should add 20-25 more. rest os should add roughly 5-10 more. that gives 25-35 more os. dom should add 10-12 more. 1260+25+10 = 1295 ww 1260+35+12 = 1307 ww Edited August 5, 2018 by a2k
KJsooner
Such a great success financially. Leads me to believe people actually do like/care about the characters of Owen and Claire. I think the JP movies definitely do a better job with the human characters compared to other monster/creature movies. There is reason people want Alan Grant to come back or for Ian Malcolm to have a bigger role.

They are actual characters, not just plot device.
